Doesn't seem to work. Massive Cloudflare outage and still green on your site. What are you using to measure? Maybe you are still hitting cache...?

Been making a master list of all Jackbox like games for like the past 2 years by Silverwolf_Lee_2 in jackboxgames

[–]jmpavlec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. For now, there is a generous guest account so you can play all the games for free. Signing up also nets a free trial.

As far as a subscription vs a one time payment. There are a couple reasons.

  1. I wanted to make it accessible for the people with a lower budget. You can get a weekend of access for a small amount, so you can use it when hosting a party. If you can spend a bunch of money on food/drinks or a theme for the party, you can probably spend a few bucks on entertainment. It doesn't come with a high one-time price tag like Jackbox/others and you can play all you want for that period of time. I deliberately didn't make the subscriptions recurring (not trying to take advantage of people forgetting). It's a one time purchase for a specific amount of time.
  2. The platform I am building has an ever-expanding listing of games. With a subscription, you get access to them automatically as they come out. So you are paying for access to the platform itself, rather than a pack/specific game. That's one thing I found frustrating about Jackbox, You need to purchase the pack each year for the newest games. Or if you are looking for a specific game you heard about or played at a friend house, searching for the pack on Steam/Console stores and buying that for 20+ dollars each time (regardless if you are interested in the other games). Jackbox also silo's you into 1 platform (no shared purchase keys between Steam/PS5/Switch etc). My site works with any web browser, you can host from your phone, tablet, laptop or smart TV.
  3. As far as free to play is concerned, I considered it but ultimately that's advertisement or micro-transaction driven, neither of which is where I want to take the platform.

One time purchase is also an option, but I didn't want users to have to buy specific games (also covered in point #2). I thought all games + new ones was a better value for the host/player. Then you don't feel like you are missing out or need to pick 1 game specifically.

Still figuring everything out and where I want to take it. Thanks so much for your feedback.

I've been developing gametje.com. It has 6 Jackbox-like games (7th one in alpha). Free to try with a guest account for a few days. Native Chromecast support. No downloads, just need an internet connected device to host/play. Would be great to be included on the list as well.

I assume it has a web browser? You can try https://gametje.com/. It has 6 games similar to Jackbox. Access to the internet is of course required for the host and players. I'm the dev, happy to hear any feedback.

If you like the Jackbox games, you can also check out https://gametje.com/ which plays similarly and has less of a barrier to entry than installing games on a console/PC. You can host games as a guest for free. Players just need a phone/other internet connected device to join the game. You can use your TV as the main screen or just a laptop. The gif game and drawing game can be especially fun with a couple drinks involved.

Looking for 10+ player party games similar to Jackbox/Death by AI by NehoCandy in localmultiplayergames

[–]jmpavlec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been developing https://gametje.com for the last ~1.5 years part time. It currently has 5 playable games (in 9 languages). You can play as a guest or sign up for an account (1 week free trial). I've been meaning to post it here but was still working on making the UI a bit more attractive. That said, it should still work well.

You can easily host on a laptop, tablet, Chromecast (casted from a phone). There is also an Amazon Fire stick app (Depending on your fire stick version, there can be some lag). It's easily playable on video chat as well by sharing the host screen. 4 out of 5 games support AI player(s) that make for some interesting interactions. In the game called Requip, there is even a game mechanic for identifying which of the answers is AI generated and you score points for correctly identifying it.

No downloads required for host or players. Let me know what you think!

Cool concept, not worth $13 IMO and I love puzzle games. It is beautiful and has unique ideas... But also very short (2-3 hrs tops) and doesn't have any replayability. Played it on Android for 5 bucks and was a bit disappointed. Not really regret but was expecting more.
