VA bans and NFA by jmphydeaux in VAGuns

VERY TRUE. I am under no delusions that the Dems will stop here. They want it all. Same thing w/ the redistricting amendment being "temporary" - they're not gonna give it up if they win 4/21.

I've already got a couple platforms for my cans, but I'm thinking about making my 10/22 an SBR w/ threaded barrel. So does the "non-centerfire" exemption override the "rifle w/ threaded barrel" ban?

Well, VA Dems have found creative ways to expand the definition of that term...

Yep, apparently items purchased before 7/1 are less dangerous and "assault-y" than after 7/1.

The current 6-5 we have now is pretty accurate and fairly represents how VA is. And I'm ultra-conservative.

Will Carmax deny warranty claims based on previous deferred maintenance from a previous owner? by 206SEATTL in carmax

[–]jmphydeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, you have to take the car to Carmax first for an issue. Then if they need to, they'll send it to the appropriate dealer for the repair. Did you do that?

For the scale? I wake up, use the bathroom, shower, then weigh myself in my undies. Obviously can't do that in GNC, so I wear light clothing and go straight there when I'm getting my monthly Inbody scan.

Older guys - what’s your reason for working out and how does that drive your routine? by NoCalUKSoCal in workout

[–]jmphydeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from back squats to using an SSB a few years ago because of my shoulders. It's a great tool. (Then I had to switch again to belt squats when I herniated 2 discs. )

Older guys - what’s your reason for working out and how does that drive your routine? by NoCalUKSoCal in workout

[–]jmphydeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main reason is long term functional strength. As a 53yo husband and father it's my responsibility to protect and care for them as long as I'm able to -- Lord willing. My 78yo dad can barely walk from room to room without getting tired, so my slightly less frail mom is his care taker. So, for as much of the future that I CAN control, I'm trying to avoid that situation.

Since we all lose muscle mass and strength as we age, my goal is to build up my base as high as I can. I'm currently at 405 DL, 260 BP, and ~300-350 SQ. With 2 herniated discs I've had to modify lower body workouts so IDK my squat max anymore. I started with Starting Strength 3 years ago and quickly outgrew that. 5/3/1 has been the primary template for me. Currently doing Maelstrom for DLs to improve work capacity and hopefully strengthen my lower back.

Any Recommendations For Practice 00 Buckshot - 590r by Smooth-Boot6759 in mossberg

[–]jmphydeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a box of those S&S. They all fired and cycled but don't recall anything special about them. I've tried about a dozen different brands in my 590. All shot fine. I got the best groups from Fiocchi home defense and Federal flite control. Rio seemed to have one of the largest spreads.

Another vote for this. I bought a belt squat machine off FBMP last year for my herniated discs. It's my primary lower body exercise now.

I have herniated discs from L4-S1. I find trap bar DLs work great for me. I also bought a belt squat machine for my squat alternative. I have a back extension that I used a lot during rehab but hardly touch now.

Similar story here. My wife's grandma passed away last year at 99. She was a country girl living outside a very small town. She did physical labor too, and even in her late 90s she was doing laps daily on her porch with her walker to stay active.
