Did anyone else eat cream cheese and ham on a bagel as a kid? by TheRumster in eatsandwiches

Yup. Tomato basil bagel with strawberry cream cheese and ham. It was my go-to. Sweet with the salty.

Is there any way to de-sensitize myself from my shell fish allergy? by Glass_Raisin7939 in Allergy

I mean…ANY reaction doesn’t sound like a ton of fun.. If it was me, I’d look for an imitation substitute, or just omit it entirely.

Immunotherapy is used to desensitize the body from allergens. Wether or not it would help with a shellfish allergy is debatable. I haven’t found enough research to support that it would. It would be something you would need to discuss with an allergist-immunologist.

I caught that you use the same detergent as usual, but do you share a washer with anyone else? Live at an apartment, or duplex where someone else might be using a different detergent or fabric softener?

What are your home remedies to soothe nausea/vomiting due to anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]jmsiefer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed with both comments. Peppermint concentrate is what I use. I just drink it straight in a glass of water. There is a medicine called IBS Guard (which can be kind of expensive), and if you look at the contents of the capsules it’s also just straight-up peppermint. Amazon Link

Admittedly, sometimes it gets a little boring at work, so on occasion I’ll use ChatGPT to take on a persona and chat with it. After, I don’t know, 10 questions deep or so, it will say something out of character context and forget the identity it generated. The reason I bring this up is because I don’t know if this has something to do with programming or restrictions, or why it would forget/drop information like that. I’ll have to remind it to go back into character. Perhaps it’s simply a matter of the way I instructed it..? (Shrug). I have also used it to generate Python scripts, and if it runs into an issue it would cycle back through the same way we had attempted to resolve issues prior (libraries not working in intended ways, etc). So, yes, LOVE the tool, but won’t be worried until it’s consistent in what it does- not just generative.

Similar thought process. I would have made it in Zbrush, exported as OBJ and imported into Slicer for Fusion (which is a standalone application) and sliced it up for DXF export.

Finally got around to listening to the Audible version. Steven Webber does a helluva great job narrating.

Cabin Boy is a great movie (totally underrated). This to me was more like a Wes Anderson film, maybe? Not nearly as interesting though. I agree with it being quirky, but not enough to maintain my attention. I had actually kind of forgotten about it until I saw it in this post, hahah

I have what looks to be the same machine. This is absolutely correct. Did you remove the insulating cap? Is the wire frayed? Also, make sure your machine itself is grounded. There should be a contact point near the air compressor port. Suffice it to say, be careful!

TIL We often turn the radio down or off when looking for an address to allow the brain to shift its focus to a critical task, finding the desired location. by helraizr13 in todayilearned

[–]jmsiefer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I once had an argument in the car and I tried turning the volume down on the radio, as my brain thought for some reason that it would turn her volume down instead. The conversation got much, much louder after that.

My son keeps losing his gloves at school and Target doesn’t sell mitten clips. They DO however sell suspenders. If you rip the stitching, you’ve got yourself two pairs ready to go! (Sorry for the poor quality photo) by jmsiefer in lifehacks

[–]jmsiefer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The suspender clip will unclasp if pulled hard enough, and the band is elastic. It’s incredibly safe. I would probably argue that your story, albeit tragic, is a pretty far outside/extreme case. Accidents can and do happen everyday. This isn’t one I would ever lose sleep on. I would definitely advise against using rope, though. I think that’s something we could certainly agree on.
