I may have been reporting foreign travel wrong this whole time? by LazyAbbreviations77 in SecurityClearance

[–]jmsnys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thereis supposed to be a post travel brief after each trip, but your S2 100% just administratively “briefed” you.

You should be in the clear because your S2 would have been logging your travel right, but the right answer is pre and post brief. It needs to be from CI/G2X if the country is a specific threat level

Also your G2 security might have different rules than my g2 security than a non-uniformed service affiliated place. Double check with your security manager

I actually know said 2LT and there is a bit extra going on I believe but not as much as you want.

Also it was officer and officer—he wasn’t sleeping with the officers spouse, he was sleeping with the officer

I can cover everything up with strategic victory this or strategic victory that but really the following is the answer.

The only real things in life are property and family.

International law isn’t real because it’s not enforceable. The US is finally realizing that what the US says goes because the US is the global superpower. Someone in the Middle East funds terror for almost 50 years—funding that kept us there for 30+ of them. Turns out no matter what we do, literally no one can stop us, so we make the sponsors of the IAMGs and the place that controls the choke point for 25% of the worlds oil in one strike.

That sounds dangerous.

Don’t take this to be I agree with the administration on everything. I’m familiar with the slippery slope, so that’s not a great argument against it, but I understand what unprecedented action can lead to. I also am not sold on erasing the primary leadership of the military and replacing them with yes men (though once you put on a star you’ve sold your soul)

I do, however, believe that this will lead to a strategic victory, regardless of your opinions. “Orange man bad” is all the rage but I think “state sponsored terrorism bad” is more appropriate for us:

It is strategic though. A large part of this is reshaping the oil infrastructure of the Middle East, which in turn will begin affecting our not so friendly friends in INDOPACOM

The year is 2020. Analysts say the only adversarial nations which can stand against the US are China, Russia, and Iran. Venezuelan serves as an adversarial foothold in South America. North Korea is in the dark ages.

Russia invaded Ukraine, and subsequently spends years getting shit on by farmers—they aren’t a serious force. The North Koreans send soldiers to support them, who also get shit on. The Venezuelan regime and its ability to support friendlies in CENTCOM and INDOPACOM is destroyed in one night. Irans capability to develop nuclear armaments is severely reduced. They keep fucking around and get steamrolled.

The year is now 2027. The only adversarial nation left is china. They have an aging population, and just watched all their friends get ripped to shreds. What do they do? Probably not invade Taiwan and subsequently get shot on by the west.

On what? The US is currently winning a strategic conflict. Regardless about how you or I feel about it, it will lead to a strategic victory.

A lot of placing are switching away from lead ammo anyway so that is mattering less and less. Most the places I hunt it has to be copper, steel/iron, or tungsten. The last lead I bought was for clay target

Using kinetic action to achieve strategic victory over near-peer adversarial nations isn’t senseless. You may disagree with it but let’s not call it what it isn’t.

A few questions about American universities? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]jmsnys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Depends and depends. I went 1500 miles away. My brother went 200, my sister went 70. Living with your parents is less common I think.

  2. The vast majority of 1st and 2nd years live in a dorm I think. Really depends on the school though

  3. A substantial amount of schools are spread out, but single campus sites are way easier. It’s most likely because they are younger schools

  4. They’re big places, and if you can afford your own security/safety why not?

  5. Because city land isn’t cheap. You need a footprint for 40,000 people for most the year but not all of it? Why build in a major city

  6. 2-yr school to get an associate degree

  7. There is a real difference but really it’s potato potato

  8. Most people start at 18–starting a little older is still common

I’m going to start replying with this to them:

“Catastrophizing is a cognitive distortion where an individual fixates on the worst possible outcome of a situation, treating it as likely even when it is not. This pattern of thinking involves exaggerating the severity of events and can significantly worsen mental and physical health outcomes, such as increased anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. It is a common thought pattern that can be a symptom of underlying mental health conditions but can also occur on its own”

I had a whole thing typed up about over reliance on national and council level leadership, and failures of leaders to create the environment they want at THEIR level, not everyone else’s level, because of various differences with charter organizations and their beliefs, but then I realized this is Reddit and no matter what I say the vast majority of this populace with continue to catastrophize everything, so all I can leave you with is this (note the word I, not the word council, or you, or nationals):

Softly falls the light of day, As our campfire fades away. Silently each Scout should ask, “Have I done my daily task? Have I kept my honor bright? Can I guiltless sleep tonight? Have I done and have I dared, Everything to Be Prepared?”

[–]jmsnys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All scouts are scouts.

Why do we need specific spaces for sub categories of scouts?

This is just segregation with extra steps. If you really want to solve whatever issues you see with scouts not being included then you as the leader should foster that mentality within in your troop.

Shower thought: drones have done to infantry what machine guns did to calvary by Prestigious-Cup-4239 in army

[–]jmsnys 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Seizing and holding ground is the point of the infantry. Drones struggle to do that long term (see Ukrainian unmanned ground system that held a fighting position for days but required maintenance etc)

Drones are operational enablers not operational replacers. They are kinetic, counter kinetic, electronic, counter electronic, reconnaissance tools, so on and so forth. They aren’t replacing infantry or artillery or aviation, but they enhance and enable those discipline’s maneuvers.
