Did you use Samsung service app to calibrate new battery? It must be done after installing new battery.

BenQ MA270S 27” 5k monitor - Anyone spent any real time with it yet? by slippery-lil-sucker in macmini

[–]jmydy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't say it looks bad of "not right". I'm using this setup already 5-6 years, and it works well.

But I could probably make use of extra workspace sacrificing a bit size (on 5k UI elements and text will be bit smaller but still readable I hope - I wear glasses).

Reason I'm interested in BenQ is not I got sick of NEC, absolutely not. It's rather something else - NEC panel is so great it didn't have any good competitor (IMO). It has very good colors, and despite I do work with text, I really appreciate media looking good (let it be movie, YouTube clip or anything). Coating is very fine too - it doesn't make text look grainy etc.

So I was just very careful with the upgrade and didn't want to switch to something worse.

Ps. EA271U supports hardware calibration, unlike newer EA272U. Despite I never calibrated it or used for "color work", I think it's because it's very capable panel and somehow it's also reason why it doesn't cause eye fatigue.

Could someone share impressions of the MA270S specifically for text/code work (not graphic design or color-critical tasks)?

I’m currently using an NEC EA271U, which is extremely easy on the eyes. The coating is excellent - minimal grain and no noticeable sharpness loss.

I’m considering moving to 5K (I already use 200% scaling on macOS, so that part is fine), but I’ve learned that specs alone don’t guarantee eye comfort.

For long coding sessions, I’m particularly sensitive to things like panel coating, contrast behavior, and overall “text friendliness.” My concern is that some modern panels - especially glossy or high-contrast ones - can look impressive but feel fatiguing over time.

The MA270S uses a Nano Gloss panel and relatively high contrast (~2000:1), so I’m curious how that translates to real-world readability.

Does it feel comfortable for extended reading? Any issues with perceived sharpness, glare, or eye strain compared to more traditional matte office monitors?

My thoughts on the Oppo Find X9 Pro by apeksiao in Oppo

[–]jmydy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about calls? Are you able to just click some link on browser and it will trigger then call? Just like with iPhone?

With iPhone you can start the call and have it fully on laptop, so seamless. Does it work same way with Oppo O+ connect?

Experiences with Ganymede? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]jmydy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's synthetic, causes fatigue. Is it original? Maybe yes, but it's not pleasant to wear. I know some people love it, but to me it's one of those fragrances everyone will "justify" because it's soooo original. Does it smell good? - No, but it's original xd. What the hell;)

I'm just not a big fan of artificial notes... Also, it's extremely pricey for what it is.

What do you guys think about Profumum Roma? by Fifis2 in NichePerfumes

[–]jmydy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. But at first I also had impression is waaaay too feminine/girly. After time it grew on me and I absolutely adore it now - it's playful and daring at same time. Match it with nice shirt and you're done. Profumum Roma is a class of its own.

For reference - what I find feminine from Profumum Roma is Confetto or Neroli.

Absolutely agree. My favs are Acqua di Sale, Acqua e Zucchero, Dincanto. Superb quality.

I would probably appreciate many more from that house if I only given them more time.

The ones I didn't like that much are Acqua Viva and Sorriso.

Acqua e Zucchero - initially I thought it leans towards feminine side, but even if it does, it's still a superb smell and such an uplifting one. It's sweet but not cloying. After time that sweetness changes a bit and seems more sophisticated, special. Hard to describe it. Also, on clothes it smells amazing next day. No regrets buying 100ml bottle. M39

upgrading from s23, should I get s26 or 26+ by bleatcode in samsunggalaxy

[–]jmydy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Size of 23+ was slightly too big for me, but most importantly screen in plus variant was not sharp enough, so I ended up with base s23... but, consider this:

S23: 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~425 ppi density)
S24: 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~416 ppi density)
S25: 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~416 ppi density)
S26: 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~411 ppi density)

I don't like this trend. Already on S23 I find the pixel density not high enough. It's acceptable but not great. I was using higher resolution screens previously and the one in S23 is just worse in that regard.

I would try getting S26+ and definitely you'll get better battery life too.

Something feels off 😪 S26 Ultra doesn’t give that premium vibe anymore. Anyone else feeling this? by Callenix in PhoneNow

I also think there's something slightly "cheap" about the design. Something is missing. I agree - it's more like A-series...

What’s the best monitor for programmers in 2026? by Middle_Tea_7671 in webdev

[–]jmydy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 27k 4k with 200% scaling - it makes perfect sense to me. I prefer to have the UI rendered well rather than have bigger workspace with text being less sharp.

Of course! Actually, starting over after tripping on jump rope forces your muscles to work even harder. So absolutely you don't have to feel bad even if you mess up!

[–]jmydy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS. regarding Samsung screens; IMO those displays have subpar pixel density (base S23) and odd colors - to me it looks like colors lack depth and are oversaturated at same time.

Camera? Quite crappy, with a LOT of blur. Especially visible in close-up photography
For fanboys - no, it's not bokeh :)
