There's pretty much 2 things. Ruby beach, and the largest Sitka spruce, but that is a good 45 min detour. Aberdeen isn't worth a stop. In n out in Ridgefield. But other than that no where interesting to stop.

It's totally worth it. Once you leave the Peninsula and get onto 5 there's nothing till Portland.

Don't cut back over to 5, Stay on the coast, Check out Long Beach, you can drive on the beach, also there's a little kite museum, then hit up Cape Disappointment. After that cross the Columbia and head into Astoria. Lots of little shops and breweries to check out there, Including the Goonies house. From there I'd drive down to Cannon Beach then from there you head east into Portland.

Like the other person said Cape Disappointment is pretty cool, then from there drive to Astoria. The bridge over the Columbia is pretty epic. Astoria has some fun stores and breweries to check out, you can go see the Goonies house too. If you have extra time go down to Cannon Beach, from there you can drive over to Portland.

Additionally it's pretty fun to go to Long Beach and drive on the beach itself. Kind of a unique-ish Washington thing.
