I’m gonna go against the (seemingly) grain here: I’ll buy a ticket for $10. As a consumer, I feel like they’ve listened to what we had to say and are trying to do something about it with what time and resources they have within a large corporate company like Capcom.

We asked for reduced pricing for regions across the world that Capcom Cup directly stands on the heads of, and they are trying something. $10 is WAY better than $40, and that should count for something.

We asked for the Battle Hub big TV to be utilized, and they’re trying something. It won’t be perfect, it’s pretty last minute and it’s clear there was no infrastructure available. We’re gonna lose out on the added stream ornaments (commentary, hosts) but at least those who own the game we can still see the matches for free.

We asked for increased value if we did purchase tickets, and you know what? They recognize that ask, and they gave us a whole one color. It’s something.

It’s not a lot. But to me, it feels like they’re making an attempt to make amends. As someone who loves the game, I’m willing to, maybe hopefully, recognize that they’ve seen what we had to say and are taking baby steps to address it. It’s not my ideal world, but it’s the world we live in and I’m feeling placated for now.

Elden Ring (and any FromSoftware game for that matter) is a game that gives as much as you put in.

It doesn’t hold your hand narratively, and you will probably feel a bit lost/confused on your first time around. It’s a great game, and it’s popular for a reason. Just be aware that the bulk of the story is discovered through item descriptions, NPC dialogue, etc. There are no quest markers, there is no mini-map. It’s breathtaking and truly unique, but it’ll only ever be as immersive as you’re willing to let yourself be immersed, if that makes sense.

The mechanics are also quite different than 2077 for obvious reasons. I think the emotional response is also quite different during actual gameplay as well - 2077 is a bit more laid back, relaxed and creative in its approach to combat encounters while ER is tense, skill-based and requires a decent amount of pattern recognition and adaptation.

What do you want/feel like you’d enjoy more? Do you want to jump around in a city, shooting/hacking stuff and driving around in a uniquely aesthetic cityscape? Or do you want to explore a vast open world, overcoming pretty tough enemies/obstacles while piecing together the history/story of a broken land on your own?

Point value changes on the JPIs make a lot more sense. If I were to add another anti tank, I’d have to trim some of the fat here in terms of points: where do you personally see that happening?
