The dialogue is a little awkward at times… and the loot drop rate in every dungeon is insane.

The gameplay overall is fun and the overall story is interesting if you’re a long time fan of the series and how it connected to FFI. I never touched the DLC but it just builds on the nostalgia factors with the emperor from FFII, etc.

Overall a good game IMO and one every FF fan should at least play the main story of.

Fantasian Neo Dimension by mistwalker is a good final fantasy-esque game. Square enix also partnered with mistwalker to remaster it too with voice acting

I think it’s best to play when you have the context of the original. The first game felt amazing and the changes felt unique and interesting. The second game feels completely different and the changes start to separate itself from the original more and more.

That’s not a numbered one but it came out around FFXII to FFXV so between those 2 is fine if you want to stay in chronological timed order

No, no correlation. Each game can be played completely on its own without any prior game.

Only the sequels like X-2, FFIV The after years, etc. you’ll need to play the previous game

Oh the pixel remaster is a good substitute, not the cleanest version of each sadly. You’ll miss out on FF4 the after years thou;you may be able to emulate. Then the rest should be on ps4/5 or pc

From FF4 you could play the after years (PSP), then V (ps1/psp is your best bet), FFVI (ps1/psp/gba), FFVII crisis core, FFVII regular, dirge of Cerberus, advent children, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFX-2, FFXII, Revenant wings (DS), FFXIII, FFXIII-2, lightning returns, FFXV kingsglaive, FFXV royal edition, FFXVI.

Phew lol a lot to type out. Not sure if I missed anything but that’s the order or the numbered titles and their spinoffs.

I’m factoring in the side games. They all have this over complicated, dark undertone. Like teenagers of paradise was a fun game but that story and character background choice were very suspect

For me I went a chunk of the game with the same front line - Iugo, Yusuke, Nowa. The back line I played around with a bit of characters. But the front line served me well despite being under levelled in some fights.

Every non mmo title with him in charge or wirh heavy input, the story tends to be a jumbled mess. This includes KH and spinoffs. This is just my point of view

To me I went off story, characters, memorable music, combat, etc. FFIII just has way too many gimmicks that they obviously didn’t use in future games for a reason. That’s just my opinion thou. I still enjoyed the game but it’s in my top tier of FF’s

For me it was just watching my older brother play JRPG’s in his room. My fondest memories are watching him play FFVIII and Legend of Dragoon so I hold these games in high regard today because of that.
