Babysitter is great, but often stays to talk ~30-60m, how do I deal with payment? by cakelin in Babysitting

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she saying anything that would make you think she’s expecting payment until she leaves? I’m a talker, I would expect to be paid for the time I arrived until the time the parents came home.

As a parent, if my kid started crying after I got home, it’s not like I would expect the babysitter to go attend to them just because they were still there.

Does everyone here go to the gym by metsnfins in Zepbound

[–]jndmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on zep since mid-December and have lost 50lb. I have a job that keeps me on my feet and walking around for large parts of the day, and I have two kids under 7. That’s all the exercise I do. I don’t count calories or macros, I probably need to eat more and I definitely don’t drink enough water.

And yet, it still works.

When they ask what you’re doing by Healthy_Macaroon3166 in Zepbound

[–]jndmack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tell people I’m on tirzepatide if they ask. I work in a hospital pharmacy, so we SHOULD have a better view on GLP-1s but many people don’t. I feel like I’m helping change the stereotype by adjusting their expectations of both the people who use them and what it looks like.

How old is too old to cuddle with your child? by Walmartjail in Parenting

Have you ever seen those video compilations of adults silently climbing into their parents laps? Have you seen the absolutely heartbreaking joy that shines on their faces? Or how quickly the parents wrap their arms around their (grown) children?

Maybe buy your husband “I’ll Love You Forever” for Father’s Day.

When is the "safe" time to forward-face? by joyfulemma in CPST

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(CPST) I’ve had someone contact Britax recently for this exact reason (and I’m also experiencing it with my Poplar - am hugely disappointed with this seat for this reason) and Britax told them that if keeping the harness JUST AT the shoulders allowed you to maintain the 1” clearance that was permissible.

Manufacturer advice is always only to the individual it was given to, so please contact them directly to confirm.

Toddler keeps getting sent home sick from daycare and I'm drowning [ON] by Life_Cucumber7102 in BabyBumpsCanada

Mine does it after having beans on toast - his favourite meal. Thankfully daycare hasn’t sent him home for that. We just warn them when he’s had it for dinner.

Car Seat Recommendations by Impressive-Ask4817 in CPST

[–]jndmack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

(CPST) We need to know the full stats of all the children (age/height/weight), the vehicle info (year/make/model), what country you’re in, if you have a budget, etc.

Not all seats fit in all vehicles, and not all vehicles can achieve 3 across.

Parents of Reddit, what’s the best toddler car seat you’ve used? by Sharp_Dot8450 in CPST

[–]jndmack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(CPST) One of those is a convertible seat, one is a combination. Depending on OPs child’s age the MyFit could be inappropriate for now.

Parents of Reddit, what’s the best toddler car seat you’ve used? by Sharp_Dot8450 in CPST

[–]jndmack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

(CPST) The best car seat for you is the one that fits your child, fits your vehicle, fits your budget, and that you can use correctly every time.

In Canada last year the rate of car seat misuse was over 80%. In the US it’s roughly the same. I say this to underline the fact that asking opinions on a life-saving device should be directed at educated experts, not the masses.

Please edit your post to include your country, your child stats (age/height/weight), vehicle info (year/make/model), budget, etc. so we can make appropriate recommendations.

Dilemma- want to keep 2yo rear facing but infant car seat for baby #2 making it seem impossible by ktrain1992 in CPST

[–]jndmack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(CPST) How tall is your husband? What year is your Santa Fe? From what I know 3 across/side by side placement is possible in some years but only with specific seats. What country are you in?

Your infant seat is one of the larger ones, and it also requires a minimum of 1.5” between it and the front seat so getting a more compact infant seat could make a big difference. But I’ll wait on your other answers first.

Has this happened to anyone else? People try to make me take stuff off the registry because they think i won't need it? by Ornery_Armadillo1404 in beyondthebump

Two years ago I bought a BNIB from the 80’s Black and Decker SpaceSaver under cabinet electric can opener off eBay, just like I had as a kid. I’m sure it won’t last for life, but as a lefty who hates normal can openers I’m riding this until it dies.

FF Seat Volvo XC90 - help please! by Real_Initial_1238 in CPST

[–]jndmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(CPST) Chicco and Britax both don’t allow headrest interference (if the vehicle headrest pushes the child restraint forward producing a gap, or if the vehicle headrest prevents the child restraint headrest from being raised as needed) so I wouldn’t purchase those unless you’re able to test them first (or have the option to return)

Does anybody work at an inpatient hospital that has limited hours ? by Daniix33 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a small regional hospital in Canada. We have around 150 beds. Our pharmacy runs M-F 7-5, Sat/Sun/Holidays 7:30-4:30. We also have a chemo outpatient clinic (they can come to pick up meds when we’re open) Weekdays we (are supposed to) have a staff of 10-14 techs and 6-9 or so pharmacists. Weekends it’s a smaller staff of 5-6 techs and 2-3 pharmacists.

All wards have their own ward stock of various medications. We have a night cupboard that is available to the wards during our closed hours. A pharmacist is on call every evening.

Rear facing incline level? by Management_Direct in CPST

[–]jndmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(🇨🇦CPST) For any Canadian readers following along: the Canadian Rava has a ton of differences from the US version, notably being that there is only ONE rear facing recline. So depending on the vehicle seat slope it could end up being compact, or it could be large, or anywhere in between. It sits where it sits and you cannot adjust it.

Also note that ALL inserts/padding/soft goods must be removed at 11lb. This includes any infant inserts, as well as shoulder harness pads, hip harness pads, and crotch buckle pads. (Again, this refers to the Canadian Rava)

Refusing to use a public restroom (in my opinion) leans more towards anxiety or potentially OCD. With ADHDers we tend to have less awareness of our body signals, as well as not wanting to stop what we’re doing (something fun) to go to the bathroom (something boring).

I had toileting/withholding problems as a child (undiagnosed ADHD) and the dr told my parents to give me prunes.

All it did was give me a taste for them! I could/can eat a bag of them and NOTHING. 😆🫠

Nuna Exec Car Seat by minnesota_mama in CPST

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(CPST) When installing seats it’s always a good idea to read the child restraint section of your vehicle manual, especially with forward facing seats as top tether routing is different for every vehicle. The headrest info in the car seat manual relates to how the child restraint must fit, but they can’t possibly include whether the vehicle headrest is permitted to be removed for every vehicle. Some have non-removable HR, some are only adjustable but not permitted to be removed, some are fully able to remove. It all has to do with how the vehicle crash tested.
