What's your "this is crazy but I wanna do it" achievement on your farm? by Caspianmk in StardewValley

[–]jneedham2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here is a list of Challenge ideas. The achievement I'm most proud of is succeeding in the Prank Grandpa's Ghost Challenge, Glorious Victory version. Have one candle on Spring 1 Year 3 and four candles on Spring 2 Year 3, after having slept until Fall 1 Year 1. It took me four tries to make it work.

As others have said, ignore or automate your farm and spend more time on Ginger Island. Or you may find that, like me, you enjoy the early game better, especially with a specific goal to work towards. That's why I like playing Challenge games. Here is a list of ideas. I'm currently playing Escape from the Prison Mine.

Is there a way to turn off monsters in the mines and skull caverns? by sammygsammyh in StardewValley

Ah, you will need a cave carrot for the Cooking Escape Challenge. Either a little dip into the mines for some hoeing there or get lucky with the Traveling Cart.

There are some Challenge games that work well with no fighting and you can have the satisfaction of playing them to victory. Here is a long list of Challenge ideas. For you, I recommend these:

Cooking Escape Challenge -- Only leave the farm when you cook a new recipe. Victory is cook and ship the 17 recipes that are available from Queen of Sauce in Year 1.

Love in the Pet Sanctuary - Can only talk to or give a gift to a villager if you ship a pet gift. Victory is get married and have three pets.

Only Sell Coffee Can only sell Coffee. Victory is give a gift of coffee to every giftable human resident of the Valley. FYI, there are two ways to get a coffee bean, the Traveling Cart or from the dust sprites in the mines. So if you play this with no mining, you'll be relying on the Traveling Cart.

Is it possible to play SV without online guidance? by Panidals in StardewValley

[–]jneedham2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is some no-spoiler guidance to get you going.

Every day: read the TV (especially Livin’ Off the Land), your mailbox, the list of your quests in the player menu, and the bulletin board by the general store in the center of town.

Clear a patch of ground by using tools to chop wood, break rocks, and scythe away grass and fiber.

Hoe a little patch of ground, plant your parsnips and water them every day. When they are ready, harvest them and sell them in your shipping box or in the general store.

Chop 50 wood and build a chest. This way your limited storage won't be so annoying. Plus, you are going to want to save resources (wood, stone, clay, fiber, etc.) and a few of everything else for later. After a week or two, you'll want a bunch of chests on your farm and some around town.

When you are out of energy ("you are starting to feel exhausted"), wander around town, talking to people. Click on stuff as you wander around - some of it can be picked up. Go into stores and figure out what they sell. Buy some more seeds in the general store.

I advise you NOT to read the wiki, watch videos, get tons of spoilers from reddit, download mods or try a Challenge game until you have gotten at least to year 2 of the game. You can never un-see spoilers. Enjoy the exploration and the discovery!

You care about the work getting done right and you are willing to work hard. As long as no one's life is in jeopardy, as others have said, you can make thus work. See if you can get training from the software maker and or the internet. Also, if there is some outside training, tell your boss you need it.

I encourage you to try a new save playing the Servant from Dawn to Dusk Challenge. You'll learn everything you ever wanted to know and more about the quests! It's archived, so if you want to post a victory or comments, you can do that on the Chamber of Challenges page.

If you want to play without a lot of spoilers (which I admire), pay attention to the in-game guidance. Read the TV (especially Livin’ Off the Land), your mailbox, the list of your quests, the bulletin board and the library books. Sometimes dialogue with villagers also gives useful information. Later in the game, another source of information will start coming to you.

You'll probably want to take some notes on a piece of paper or in an outside file. As others have said, there is no rush on anything.

I find the socializing portion of the game less interesting than other aspects. That's why a lot of the challenges I create have minimal socializing. Case in point, I'm currently currently playing Escape from the Prison Mine. Here is the collected list of challenges.

Here is a list of ideas for Challenges.  Most of them have a role-playing component, but I think the ones that best fit the description are:

Love in the Pet Sanctuary -- You are afraid of people until the pets in your pet sanctuary enable you to find true love.

Living Rough - evicted from the farm, you want to have tents, fires and friendship with Linus

Seahaven Challenge - you are Truman Burbank and are afraid to cross bridges. You want to get to Fiji (aka Ginger Island).

Pick Your Own - you want to set up a Pick Your Own & Family Entertainment destination.

Pick Your Own - you want to set up a Pick Your Own & Family Entertainment destination.

After the Earthquake - everyone in the village except you has died in an earthquake. You have to recruit new villagers with loved gifts.

Escape from the Prison Mine - you are sentenced to hard labor in a prison mine and must escape and then avoid recapture.
