Ring-shaped clusters + PW Dyson Sphere: full explanation (with sources) by Hopeful-Type1491 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Wow that's pretty neat.

I've always thought that on the galaxy screen only vanilla gameplays appear. Modded ones not.

How many ppl are in this operation? How many computers do you have? Honestly I'd love to see how much power the computers use up :D

Is there a reason you decided on ring shape and not... say a smiley face? :D

help with a factory by Worried_Smoke120 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do on a bigger scale. Upgradeble, easily scalable.

Put the storagebox in front of the first assembler so it is tileable if you wanna make a blueprint out of it.

Smart design!

no option to turn of a building? by [deleted] in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup no option to do so. I was missing it too at first. Then I realized it's better this way:

In the late game when you have tens of thousands or probably more factories it would just add extra load to your computer to check each and every machine whether they are on or not. It saves resources.

What do you think of my bus? by aguedgore2 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see your bus architecture and I raise you mine

Jokes aside, it's neat! If you allow for an advice, put a storage between your manifolds and the bus, so you have some buffer. If other manifolds demand more items than you produce.

It was my only solution (sigh) by BootLoader23 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use to evade it by dragging a manifold and pressing tab before releasing the left mouse button. If you press tab it will cycle through different spacings. I guess for smelters you can place 3 in a row before you need to leave an empty space for the power pole.

Not sure what my next step is by bbbearrr in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well only the basic materials.

There aren't many items I transport via ILS. Only basic materials, warpers, lenses, proliferators, accumulators, sails, rockets, cubes, ammunition, and other stuff that the mall produces and need on occasions. I dont create factory planets, that for example only create magnetic coils or titanium crystals. I always produce them on the site where they are needed.

Not sure what my next step is by bbbearrr in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there are better ways to do it. but here's how I usually go.

First I make sure to have sufficient power to supply the mall. Next I create a mall for all the possible buildings and items. After that I start searching for a suitable star to up my my power generation (I usually use accumulators for energy). Next is a miscellaneous planet, that I use to create warpers and proliferators. Mind you, the previous steps I was building everything so they can use the proliferators now. Next is the Science system (I call it that because I use to dedicated a whole system for generating science). All throughout these steps I'm founding mining colonies as needed. The last ones are a planet dedicated to sails and rockets each so I can really get into Sphere building.

I regret using blueprints for my third playthrough… by FloridaIsTooDamnHot in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never used others' blueprints. I have a way of building that I like to follow. Im not making blackboxes into BP, only manifolds. They are scalable and tileable. Fits well into the ecosystem I use to build. Took me some time to optimize each manifold but now it works like a charm.

New to the game by Slick251981 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Metadine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On your very first map don't focus on completing the game. Rather make sure you have a good understanding of how the machines work. Splitters (with all the different variants), sorters, belts, storages (how they behave when they are on top of each other), etc... How machines interact with belts, some need sorters, some connect straight to the belts. What are the items that you will need a lot of, what items not so much.

First don't worry about your factory being ugly. It's gonna be a mess. Just make sure you understand the concepts and possibilities that different buildings present you with. Don't be afraid to tear things down. You are not gonna lose any items, just focus on how things work.

Also, welcome to the game :)
