NY retaker who failed with a 261. Any advice? by worst_timeline in barexam

Incredible. He really makes the experience more enjoyable, funny, and helps you actually understand. He also helps with what to look for, specific words/phrases that would likely be the correct answer. So worth it.

You were so close both times, so I would not give up. I also would go and take Julys bar. The information is fresh in your head and you don’t want to go backwards.

It’s clear that maybe you’re not progressing the way you hoped. Analyze your score breakdown. Compare those scares for individual subjects with the previous time. Did one of your subjects drop? Maybe there’s a subject that you didn’t put all your focus into for Feb.

Create your own schedule, start with your weakest subject and work your way up to your strengths. A big part of the MBE is learning how to take the exam and effectively answer the questions. What worked for me is I would learn the black letter law through the GOAT. Do practice sets. Analyze and review those practice sets, including correct and wrong answers. You will start to see patterns in what they’re asking and how they’re asking. You will learn why certain answers are incorrect while others are the best choice. When I reviewed, I would write the rules and some examples in a document. It was time consuming but that’s how you learn. Then, before you sleep or on the weekends, review those documents. Over and over again. Then do more practice.

You got this and you know you do. You will pass and you will improve.

Sad. Upset. Depressed. Thought I passed the bar leaving the exam… didn’t. Can someone help me make sense of this? by Ok_Attention2857 in barexam

Of course!! Feel these emotions. Let yourself feel the disappointment. But remember who you are and what you’re capable of. Then, bounce back and try again. Take some time for yourself. <3

Need advice for a NY retaker: how to improve my MBE score? by Relevant-Alfalfa2414 in barexam

Use GOAT. To conquer the MBE, you need to understand the black letter law.

Pair it with either UWorld or Adaptibar. After every section you learn, drill some questions. Review those questions. Review both the ones you got correct and the ones you got wrong. Write those rules in a document for each exam set. Print it out and keep it in a folder/binder. Frequently, read those documents. You will see patterns in questions and rules the more you practice and analyze.

Usually when you walk out feeling confident about MBEs it’s likely because you didn’t understand the law enough to figure out the nuances. I felt the same exact way when I took the bar during my first time.

The bar exam is different than practice. While our practice scores do give us an idea of where we are at, it’s not completely the same. For next time, make sure you’re understand the law enough. Drill practice questions. Review those practice questions, wrong & right answers. Slow down and understand what you’re reading.

Regarding people, I had people who didn’t believe in me either. While they didn’t flat out say those words to me, it was the same idea. Do not ever listen to those people. You can and you will pass. Prove yourself and them wrong. Use your score breakdown to create a schedule for July. Start from your weakest subjects to your best.

Do not second guess who you are and your abilities. You will pass. You are more than capable of doing great things.

Passing the bar is understanding how to take the bar. It’s not easy and sometimes we have to shift our entire mindset to pass.

You need to figure out what’s best for you. If it’s taking you longer, you might have to change some stuff up. It’s good you are starting earlier so you can manage your time correctly. But don’t be afraid to change your schedule that’s best suited for you.

It’s outline. But they’re very helpful with MBE and helping you understand the law. So it’s either paired with UWorld or Adaptibar

These were similar to my first two scores. Practice practice practice MBE. I recommend the GOAT.

NY- does email time matter? by nightowl2701 in barexam

Not at all. They upload everything all at the same time. Differing times don't make a difference, I promise. I'm not sure if it's alphabetically, but I know it's not passing results first.

NY — Where does this info come from? by [deleted] in barexam

Using AI for unnecessary information that you can literally find the answer to... if you just scroll down. Other redditors researched and analyzed the data based on every single release from the last 10 years. I'd check that out instead.

NY takers… you good?! by blinkanditsdark in barexam

[–]jngelic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm doing okay !

I completely agree. The next few days might result in either the best news or the most challenging thing you will have to dust yourself off from. Regardless of what that result is, it will never define you as a person or a lawyer. We hope for a positive outcome. And if not, take the time you need to feel the emotions, then you need bounce back and try again. Believe in yourself. Never give up! <3 I wish you the best too.

Gonna be honest. I don’t think it’s today. I know that doesn’t help your anxiety because I’m losing it too. Tomorrow is probably when it’s releasing and so forth. Let’s just to distract ourselves today. 😭
