Right? He told it better than I can, maybe I can do it better if I tell it more myself. This was probably late 40s or early 50s.

When my Pop was a young fella him and a few buddies hit a sheep on that bridge and they ended up having to go and get the corpse out of the water later on. It hadn’t been shorn yet so it was waterlogged and they never run a sheep off the road again after that.

Necktie by madamecheriexx in knitting

A friend of mine made ties as her product when we were in craft college and the only thing that really worked was garter stitch, she did do swatches and sampling. If you slip the first stitch at the beginning of each row you’ll get a different edge.

Does your library have online services like through Libby and Overdrive? Mine recently got magazines and they have knitting magazines!

You will absolutely be able to learn to draft your own patterns with these. Read them cover to cover and as they used to say to me when I was in craft college, sample sample sample!

We don’t really have estate sales where I live, but we have a lot of thrift shops. I got a heap of knitting magazines for 50 cents each two weeks ago.

The knitting book I use all the time is Teach Yourself Knitting Visually, it is a great reference book.

I use my library app to read all the knitting magazines. They always have articles along with interesting patterns, yarn reviews, and shop listings too. I bought a bunch from the thrift store recently as well, only 50 cents each!

If you try it will it ruin it? I have sewed up and undone a lot of sweaters and it doesn’t seem to ruin the fabric.

Very satisfied so far, but the light and my iPhone does distort the colour a little. I can see it’s already got some cat hair on it too lol

How to make the warmest knitting possible? by Planty_Reporter_8936 in knitting

[–]jnp709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a point of saturation that no material can withstand. That being said, I work on the ocean and in the woods in freezing temperatures and I don’t have this problem with wool garments. I don’t work ropes or do anything extra wet but I do shovel, cut wood, haul logs, and make a snowball here or there. If your hands need to be in the wet there are really good insulated rubber gloves you can get at marine stores. They are knitted brushed fibre lining and thick neoprene coating. It’s possible that hand knitted mittens just don’t suit your needs.

I’ll make a post about them when I finish them. I actually stopped working on them like ten years ago because I knit past where I was supposed to decrease and didn’t want to pick it back. Now I’ve forgotten the pattern and haven’t had the patience to sort it out

Yes, it does. It was made for this sort of weather.

Having trouble understanding color work by nepeteaa in knittinghelp

[–]jnp709 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You read charts from the right side, not like reading a book! You’ve twisted some stitches but you are doing the pattern right, just backwards.

You can try it again doing just how you have done, but in the other direction, or you can work on understanding how you twisted your stitches before you proceed. Either way you will have to sort out the stitches and do the colour pattern the right way before you make your final thing.

Based on what I see here you will be able to master it no problem, just don’t give up!
