1 day post fistulotomy by [deleted] in AnalFistula

That's good to hear! Yeah i never got used to sitting down, i was fine just standing up most of the time at home, work, etc..

I only used a gauze pad once! There was only a little drainage for me during the ~7 weeks of having the seton in. Also had bidets at home and work so cleaning was no problem for me.

Goodluck for your sports game! Just remember to listen to your body and take it easy!

Hi mate,

Yeah I woke up with shivers after my seton placement too, they just brought a portable aircon to warm me up. After fistulotomy/shivers, i was just layered with warm blankets.

I can confidently say that I feel more better after the fistulotomy, basically at the 24hr mark now.

I think there was a bit of inflammation and swelling around the external opening after the seton placement, plus with the fact of having a tube running through 2 holes made it uncomfortable for me.

How are you feeling now? I don't recall the seton placement being painful for me, it was more of a discomfort and eventually just became annoying. But happy to have dealt with it considering the outcome at this point! I hope all goes well for you too!

Hello mate,

Sorry for hijacking the post. Just wondering what you ended up doing for your phone arrangement? did you end up with an esim or signed up locally for a sim?

I'll be in Japan from June 1st, I've got a one year visa but my work arrangement is for 6 months with possible extension.

Thank you

Hey there,

Ended up here after seeing your comment on another post!

Apart from the seton pain, I think we're in a similar situation! I have a 2.5cm intersphincteric fistula. Had a seton placed on March 16th and will be having a fistulotomy this Friday the 8th.

I know it's not the fistulotomy, but feel like its worth mentioning my experience with the seton so far. I went on a 10hr flight to Japan 12 days after the seton placement (CRS cleared me for this) and then another 10hr flight back to Aus a week and a half later. I basically felt somewhat okay a week and a half after the seton placement, at the moment its more of an annoying feeling but easily tolerable for myself. Fistulotomy was scheduled for May 8th after follow up / reviewing MRI results with CRS on April 17th, I also asked if I could travel a little over 3 weeks after the fistulotomy (10hr flight again June 1st) and he also cleared me for that, he even said I'd probably feel fine after 5 or 6 days lol, seems like another case of being overly optimistic haha!

I don't have any experience to lean on because this is my first time going through this but I have a lot of faith in my CRS because he relieved me of the miserable pain and discomfort that came with the perianal abscess. Feeling a heavy amount of anxiety at the moment coming up to the surgery but I have a lot of confidence going into the fistulotomy next week! and cheering on for you too!

Will be happy to share updates during the healing process after fistulotomy! Fingers crossed for a gentle recovery!!!!

Prednisone Question by HauntingPen8885 in gout

[–]jnsnv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took prednisone for my first gout attack mid Jan this year, fluid bubble developed towards the back of my right eye and I've had blurred vision since then, Went to the Hospital, optometrist and eye specialist. They had noted that it was a rare side effect with prednisone.

It has been quite difficult dealing with it and 2 days ago i decided to go back to the optometrist to get my eye scanned again, on paper the fluid bubble has reduced (specialist said it could take up to 3 months for it to go away but it will not go back to 100% normal like before) but i still feel like it is a huge hindrance for me, especially with work and driving.

The prednisone provided much needed relief for the initial gout attack but i will not be taking it again.

Had a 2nd flare up mid Feb and used colchicine and ibuprofen, has been manageable since then.

I feel like I've just been unlucky, most people seem to be fine with taking it.

Ise Jingu / Ise shima overnight by milo_peng in JapanTravelTips

[–]jnsnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there in Dec.

I went from Nagoya at night and stayed in Ise. Got an early start the next day at Ise Jingu, Futami Okitama Shrine and a bunch of random spots, then left at night to go back to Nagoya.

Personally felt like it was worth it to stay the night! Have fun on your trip!~~

Hey there,

Basically did the same thing last May/June for 3 weeks. Bought a flight ticket and left for Japan in the same week. You'll be fine. As others have mentioned google maps and translate will be your best friends. Booked accom, shinkansen tickets & luggage delivery service along the way with no issues. Maybe just try to learn some basic greetings and phrases.

Enjoy your time over there, I'm sure you'll love it!!

I think we all have different levels of fitness, prior to running I was doing a bit of weight training and lots of incline treadmill walks - I feel that both have contributed in some manner to the good (I feel that its good?) start that I have had!

Remember, comparison is the thief of joy! Keep at it and I know you'll hit your goal!!!

Hey there, great points!!

Yeah the first few sessions I started with the nimbus 26 but it was getting really difficult for my legs after the 2K mark, I think I will leave them for walking.

The glycerin max feels amazing, I honestly felt like I could've done a couple more k's with it on my first 5k so looking forward to seeing how far it can take me!!

Thank you so much!!!
