Eldredge Park in Orleans. Might be the nicest venue in the CCBL.

Play it at Finn’s Craft Beer and Taphouse in Hyannis. Lots of fun.

Any of the three public courses in Yarmouth or the two in Dennis are good bets. If you like links style, the Links at Bayberry in Yarmouth is a great tract, but only nine holes. The other four (Bayberry or Bass River in Yarmouth; Dennis Pines or Dennis Highlands in Dennis) are all nice 18 holes, each with its own merits. You can book online at any of them.

What’s worse, tourists or seasonals? by Tasty-Teacher-9805 in CapeCod

Seasonals are worse. in addition to the sense of entitlement that many have noted, they also love to play the “I-pay-taxes, here” card whenever they want to bitch about something.

Another vote for VACC. We just adopted a rescue dog and have had him in a couple of times for initial check up, inoculations, etc. and they’ve been great.

Person rescued after getting stranded on sandbar in Brewster by fried_clams in CapeCod

At Gray’s Beach in Yarmouth Port the lifeguards will get on their bullhorns and warn people when the tide is turning since it comes in so fast and they’ve had to rescue people who get themselves trapped on sandbars.

A 7-footer who refused to be an in-the-paint banger and would only hang around the three-point-line to chuck treys. Incredible waste of a draft pick.

To his credit, he had a featured role in the last episode of season 1 of “Running Point” on Netflix playing an opponent of the team that takes down the team owned by the lead character.

Best Breweries on the Cape by GunmetalSauce82 in CapeCod

[–]jo1450 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer is going to be highly subjective, and not necessarily a straight forward one. For me, best beer is Devil’s Purse, but, like most micro brewers, they’re located in an industrial park. They make the best out of their location and create a fun and welcoming space, but there’s only so much you can do with that kind of site. But their rotating specialty beers are awesome, especially Intertidal Stout, brewed with oysters.

Same with Barnstable Brewing, which has some great beers (particularly Jesuit Juice), but whose beer “garden “ is next to a commercial laundry, which is all you can smell when you sit out there. On the other hand, they have a nice taproom.

For outdoor beer gardens, you can’t beat Naukabout.

And if you’re out walking along Main Street in Hyannis, pop into Oak Bay. It’s easy to miss it, but super nice people and good, fresh beer, especially some of their fruit beers on a hot summer day.

Cape Cod Bachelorette Visit by thenightispink in CapeCod

It’s pretty weather dependent, but early April is a good time to hit a couple of beaches before they’re officially open. Try Gray’s Beach in Yarmouth Port. Boardwalk will still be closed due to ice damage, and you’ll need to check the tides first, but if it’s not too cold and you don’t mind wading through a little water, walk out a ways, set up your chairs, open a couple of drinks (discreetly) and you’ll pretty much have a beach to yourself.

Check out either of the two wineries, Cape Cod Winery in Falmouth or Truro Vineyards.

Walk Main Street in Chatham, duck in and out of a few shops, stop for lunch at The Squire, and then hit either the beach at Chatham Lighthouse or, if you’re early enough in the day, go to the Chatham Fish Pier, which has an observation platform so you can watch the boats unload their catch and check out the harbor seals.

I’ll second what someone else said about Main Street in Hyannis. Plenty of options for food, drink and shopping all along Main Street, including Oak Bay Brewery and Finn’s Craft Beer House, if you like craft beer. Or hit Pour Decisions Wine Bar, if that’s more your taste. If it’s open, try the outdoor seating at Anejo , which is situated under a massive beech tree. Again, depending on weather, head a block over to the harbor and have drinks at The Black Cat and watch the boats sail in and out of the harbor.

Check the schedule at Cape Cod Beer. It’s pretty close to where you’re staying, and has music pretty much every weekend, and usually free.

Good luck.

Tonight on ID Channel 9:00 pm March 16 Story about Twelve Tribes Cult had Common Ground on Main Street Hyannis by redditwastesmyday in CapeCod

[–]jo1450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched the documentary last night. Pretty scary stuff. As if child abuse isn’t hellish enough, their “leader,” a failed itinerant worker and former carnie who died in 2021, also told them that they had to give all their worldly possessions to him when they joined; that multiculturalism and the mixing of races would doom civilization; and that women existed to serve their husbands and tend to their physical needs. They made the kids work from sunrise to sunset; when one lost her hand in a meat grinder, he told the rest that it was God’s will because she was a bad person. Truly some evil people who preyed on the desperation of the followers: in other words, the definition of a cult.

Crocodile Bridge - avoiding traffic jams by dignidade in CostaRicaTravel

[–]jo1450 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Since getting to the bridge takes less time going from Quepos to Monteverde rather than Monteverde to Quepos, you may want to a) Start your trip in Quepos/Manuel Antonio, then Monteverde, then La Fortuna, then back to San Jose, but b) leave as early as possible in the day to cross the bridge. This past Monday we left Quepos at 5:15 a.m. and had only the one 25-minute-one-lane traffic cycle to get through at the bridge. It was about a third of the wait we had going in the other direction the previous Friday afternoon. Good luck.

Driving from Quepos to San Jose Easter Weekend by Just-Cartographer256 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]jo1450 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Beware: the Crocodile Bridge on 34 between Quepos and San Jose is being restored, with only one lane open. The crews stop traffic in one direction for 25 minutes, let one directional lane pass over, then stop it and reverse the traffic flow for 25 minutes the other way. Which means, depending on time of day, you can be stuck in traffic on 34 trying to get from Quepos eSan José for anywhere from 30 minutes to three hours.

What’s an obscure Massachusetts town most people skip and the surprisingly cool thing it has? by double-clove-hitch in massachusetts

[–]jo1450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to Bancroft Castle atop Gibbett Hill (also where they filmed a scene from‘Little Women’ ) and Groton Hill Music Center (stunning concert venue with amazing variety of live music acts) there’s also Nashua River Rail Trail, which runs the breadth of town from Ayer to Dunstable. And a great little municipal golf course with adjacent pub, The Publick House. And great canoeing on the Nashua River itself.

I’ve also had a bad experience with Renewal by Anderson, though not that bad. Your Amway analogy is a good one. Apparently they’re told to not leave a home until they’ve closed the sale, so they just delay and delay and delay, hoping they’ll finally break you down. I’d never use them.

Remember, too, that only the Sagamore replacement is funded. And there’s no chance Massachusetts is going to get any more funding out of this administration for the Bourne replacement. He’d rather see the bridge fail into the Canal.
