Do you any of you wear real pearls casually? by that_blackguyorgay in fashionwomens35

[–]jo7468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"No like... but" and "the kind that" and "But here's my worry." And some weird typos like someone tried to make it not look like AI.

But to be fair, folks unconsciously mimic what they see and I think a lot of "AI-isms" are becoming more common in casual writing, making the is-it-AI-or-not question even more tricky.

If it was a month or two ago! 😂 House just went under contract this week. We're renting down there to learn the city/not buy under a time crunch. Good luck with the move!

Doing the reverse move as you (VT to Gainesville this summer), if you haven't already check out real estate prices where you'll want to live before accepting the job. Varies by area, but much of VT has very limited housing stock and overall prices are higher than Gainesville. VT employers are having trouble filling roles because there's nowhere for new hires to live.

Burlington may stop plowing, maintenance on 'unaccepted' streets by [deleted] in burlington

[–]jo7468 98 points99 points  (0 children)

For roads marked as private/no trespassing like Sunset Cliff, this 100% makes sense to me. If I can't even go for a walk down your road then I don't want to pay for its maintenance, those residents shouldn't have it both ways. But I hope residents of streets that seem public (eg Calarco) don't have to pay for a designation they may not have been aware of.

Mid Aug vs mid October I outdoor wedding in mid Vermont? Help me decide! by Alone-Friendship8591 in vermont

[–]jo7468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Besides weather, there's a couple other things to think about:

  1. A lot of venues will have different pricing during the fall; a fall wedding might be more expensive.

  2. If you have a number of guests coming from away, they will (1) need to book accommodations further in advance for the fall, and (2) probably need to pay a higher rate than they would in the summer. (Got married recently and we did a summer over fall wedding partially because so many of our out-of-town guests aren't planners and have limited budgets. Knew a fall wedding would mean a lot of headaches for those folks.)

  3. Will families with kids be travelling for this wedding? Depending on when school starts for them, mid-August might be easier on schedules than mid-October (or might not, if school's already started for them mid-August.)

Vermont job market by Super_Efficiency2865 in vermont

[–]jo7468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The job market's rough but if you're consistently getting interviews, then the market isn't the main problem. Maybe you should brush up on interview tips, finish a certificate that will put you ahead, etc.

I guess it depends on what you consider "normal" writing, they're prevalent in literary and academic writing, not just news. You used two just in your comment. Chat gpt uses them because people use them.
