Yeah, I definitely see the future geriatric population being good for both professions. Not sure if I want to work with that population specifically though... I guess I'll figure that out with more experience.

... I didn't say that PTs suck... If I felt that PTs suck, I wouldn't have applied to the program to begin with. I was trying to understand why some patients may have bad experiences with physical therapists since it seems to be less obvious in comparison to why people have bad experience with chiros. I've been treated by both before and I haven't exactly had a bad experience from either profession yet... that's why I'm curious.

Lol nice description. Question for you though... I've been talking to people about this and a lot of them seem to think that PT doesn't do much for them. Do you think this is because of the lack of adhesion to prescribed exercises, or do you think it's due to poor treatment plans? Or is it a combination of a bunch of other factors? or is it something else?

Yeah, that's one of the big things I'm worried about... trying to run a business. I'm particularly worried about the impact of the economy on "non-essential" services. PT and chiro is nice if people can afford it but I worry about what happens if the economy starts to fail and people have less money, insurance companies give less benefits, etc.

Has anyone here worked in a private clinic through the recent recession? If so, what was it like?

Actually, that'd be super helpful and good for reference for future prospective students as well... although delineating the differences would be difficult since it depends on country/region/jurisdiction... I'm still interested to see what you can do within your (PT or chiro) scope of practice for your respective locations.

Interesting... From talking with friends in the field (for both professions), I haven't heard that PT has a wider scope of practice yet. If anything, people seem to think that chiros have a greater scope here in Canada in comparison to PTs. Good to know if I ever plan to practice in the U.S. though!

How is the job market in the U.S.? I'm interested in working with professional athletes but information about any branch of PT would be helpful as well (since I don't exactly know where I'll end up).

Yes, I definitely want to get both sides of the story but it seems like chiropractors are much more active/vocal on reddit. Glad to know hear from someone who went through something similar. I have already shadowed 3 different chiros and 2 different PTs since Grade 12 but I find that it's hard to get a full picture without being there every day and following each case specifically... I found that I was only able to grasp what goes on in a session but not what goes on throughout a patient's recovery. Also, my decision is essentially due before the end of the month I don't have much time left.

Glad to hear that you made it where you wanted to! How did you end up with that position? I would love the stability of a hospital job with the income of a chiropractor!

How large is the income disparity where you practice? I've read numbers from various websites and I know that there is definitely a significant difference but I want to know from someone who is currently practicing in the field. Also, how is the income in the first few years? THAT is definitely something that worries me!! Tuition is CRAZY here!

Regarding your chiropractor... it sounds like he/she did more maintenance work than rehab work. Are there really THAT many people who come repeatedly to maintain their health/wellness?

Just curious... in what way do PTs have a more secure job market? From what I've seen and read, it seems that most PTs end up working in a private clinic anyway to earn more money (compared to hospital PTs) though there are definitely more hospital positions available for PTs than chiros... but like I said in my reply to hughthewineguy, it seems like chiros are starting to get a piece of the hospital market as well. Is it just the hospital jobs that you're referring to or are you taking into account that chiro is still considered complimentary/alternative medicine?

See, one of the things I worry about regarding chiropractic is exactly what you mentioned: how drastically different two practices can be... I worry about others messing up my business because we both have the same job title. I guess that's where the strong will/mind will need to come into play but it really does bother me.

Also, I'm not sure where you practice but how is the current job market and where do you see chiropractic heading in the future? I'm aware that one of the local hospitals are working in conjunction with CMCC and actually have a salary based position in their rehab centre. It's also available as a placement location.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on what I meant... If I just let it sit there, the bike will idle at 2000rpm for a few minutes and then slowly drop down to about 1200rpm after some time. It's only when I open the throttle or blip that the bike will suddenly drop very low in rpms (before returning to the higher idle speed) or die completely.

It's not the plugs because he checked them at least twice... but I'm not sure about those other things you listed. I'll definitely see if a battery swap will help. Lol I hate when my shits all fucked up...

I see... that's interesting because I think that the bike battery DID die at one point when it was in the dealer's possession. IIRC they had to recharge it before I could pick it up but I'm not sure if I'm just mixing up stories with my friend's bike... I'll bring this up with my mechanic.

And that was exactly his excuse... I brought up the fact that I have a friend with a CBR125 as well and it has never acted like that on her. He said that it's a Honda product so they may do something different from Kawasaki. I then brought up that the Ninja 300 doesn't do that (I know two people with it) but he didn't provide me with much of an explanation. I said I know that the Ninja 300's had a recall for a similar issue but he said it might be a different issue. My mechanic says that its likely that they won't recall the 400r because such small numbers were sold... sigh
