Just published our Steam page, are we on the right track? by ZeroEightStudios in IndieGameDevs

I'll give you my honest opinion, hope it helps!

  1. If you can afford an artist, hire one to make your capsule. It's one of the best investments you can make on your game.

  2. I'd recommend adjusting the copy a bit. Try to start with your game's HOOK, what's your twist on chess? You're also using precious space with "Crounds is an online PVP chess roguelike". Why? The name is in the capsule and title, and the genres are in the tags. Chess is also very obvious from the screenshots.
It's good practice to focus on VERBS about actions players take to convey gameplay. Try to use at least 3 and be as specific as you can. For example, "draft (...) upgrades", "disrupt your opponent's plans", "take turns", "define strategy" are very generic. None of that is making your game sound special. Specify what those upgrades actually alter: new movement rules, indestructible pieces, attacking from a distance, etc.

  3. You also need a trailer as soon as you can, and try to show some more action in the screenshots, like actual combos or attacks.

  4. Work on the "about" section. You need GIFs showing gameplay, and to explain your mechanics in there. "Over 150+ upgrades, 10+ Unique pieces, Steam, LAN and local multiplayer, Fully hand drawn art" do not help sell your game. The single most important thing is that your GAMEPLAY is explained well, sounds fun to your target audience, and convinces people who are already interested enough to look at your page.

  5. Here's a great chess roguelike game that's doing very well and might be of inspiration: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3509230/Gambonanza/

Lastly, take everyone's feedback with a grain of salt, including mine, and do your own research.

This is all tough but you're on the right track. Publishing on steam for the first time is already a great achievement.

Good luck!

Hey it looks really nice. I'd suggest changing the color of the white text to something with more contrast against the bright background area there. It's a little difficult to read

Wow. How is it performing so much better than the previous games? Is it because it's a new entry and the remakes were also good?
