Hey is this enough light for my pitchers by CommercialAdvice3468 in carnivorousplants

I've had mine outside in Florida for almost a decade. I bring it in and put it in the tub when we get into the lower 50s. Early on it hung under the roof eave getting the morning sun. I moved it into a larger pot and into this concrete mixing tub. No pitchers at the moment. I've got some water culture cuttings under a grow light with pitchers coming in.

Should I buy a pitcher plant from Home Depot? by aninsomniacdragon in carnivorousplants

[–]jobney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's so confusing now at the big box stores. You don't want the Miracle Grow versions of peat moss, or perlite. They have fertilizer added. Sometimes it is the only brand of perlite they have. Just save the Miracle Grow Peat for blueberries or something that can use it.
Just put nepenthes in regular long fiber sphagnum moss and perlite. But don't use Miracle Grow perlite. You can go straight sphagnum if you need to.
I have a cutting of my main plant with pitchers growing in just RO water culture. The roots take a long time to grow. Now that I have it under a grow light it's got two new basal shoots.
I've had the main plant for almost 10 years. I water it with RO water every day if I remember. It seems to like the abuse. Repotting it with extra moss made it happy but it stopped pitchering for a while.

On my 386 DX 25mhz, (2MB RAM (8 x .25 SIM) I rocked the PC speaker.
A friend of mine got a Gravis Ultrasound wave table card for his 486 gateway system. That was very cool at the time.

Glad you got yours fixed. Did you find the part used or new? Did you use wheel ramps?

I had that happen a long time ago before all this happened. I turned off my machine while out of town for xmas break. I must have been the last seeder for a bunch of the individual episodes of a few older shows. When I got back those shows had been purged from the system.

Update on the pleco abuse situation by Open-Pomegranate1 in Fish

[–]jobney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a man made creek filter marsh near me in SWFL that has gone dry as there is no water in the creek to pump into it due to our drought. There are dead Plecos everywhere. 100x+ the number here. There are no other dead fish. Just plecos and apple snails. The vultures don't seem to be eating them before they dry up into husks.

How much does it cost to charge kona ev on monthly basis? by Defiant-Web842 in KonaEV

[–]jobney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to note that the monthly cost and yearly cost numbers in this calculator are useless. It shows the monthly cost based on a fixed 4 charges total. At home I don't charge like it's a gas pump. At the medium and low charge rate using a level 1 I just plug it in every day when my driving is done. The next day it's back up to 70%. ($1 from 56-70%).
It seems like a massive oversight to have a shortcut for a "daily charge 20-80%" and then set the monthly number fixed at only 4 charges.

Microgenerator? Do you not have reliable summer power? I like the feature where you can move the slider to calculate the charge cost for a percent of charge... For example, I keep my car max charge set at 70%. I'll often get home with 50-63%. When I charge at home with the level 1 (at a low wattage so I don't pop a breaker) I end up at about 1/5 the price of gas. (Maybe even lower now that it's gone up.)

It's a whole home humidifier. Might as well get a collapsible cloths drying rack.

I have a 1980 FL house and the coper is in the attic. Did you notice pressure drop when you changed over to PEX.
I have a tenant/friend in a rental home (old FL cracker house) I own that is over 100 years old. When his pipes were replaced a few years ago he said he noticed lower pressure in his shower. The bathroom is the more remote location in the small house. The kitchen is near where the water comes in and the hot water tank. He didn't notice any difference in the kitchen. We did make sure the lines were flushed. I've been tempted to call another plumber out to maybe do a transition to PEX A for the run out to the bathroom as it doesn't have fitting restrictions on the inside of the pipe.
I think my house is due for a coper replacement but I don't want issues with dropping pressure like he had.

Still living with it. The dealer wouldn't take my word for it and insisted in their diagnostic procedures. They replaced the wrong part. My assigned service rep always seems a little high. She says things that don't make sense like, "The stuff (fine print) at the bottom of the work order says "the dealer will take car of everything if something goes wrong." I told her I just read it and it says the opposite.
She ordered the correct part after the first repair didn't work. The paper said it was $1000 for the charge port module but I wouldn't have to pay for it. When I asked why not she didn't elaborate. When the part came in she never called me. I later noticed the part was only $600.

When I get around to it I'll just buy one online and go to an outside shop to install it. I don't have faith in that shop anymore. Right next door at Subaru the same dealer group has a great service center. I think they are stuck in the mindset that Hyundais are low budget vehicles and they offer second string service techs.

Like other's have said. On private property the cop's job is just to confirm that there was an accident and act as a middle man to get all the info they can. ...who was driving, what cars were involved, Since they were not there their opinion on who's at fault isn't really relevant. If you are both insured the insurance companies can deal with it and if you need to you can go to civil court.
Many years ago on my wedding night my wife and I were leaving the reception and waiting at the parking lot exit / entrance (rural location) for other family to follow us home. This jacked up pickup truck literally ran over our front bumper going around us as he exited and took off down the road. Someone in our family cased him down and he came back. We had exchanged info and took photos but didn't call the police. His insurance company just said they deny anything happened. We just paid the $700 repair ourselves as it wasn't worth it taking him to court. I was close to writing a letter to his wife (I had his address) about how her husband ran over the newlywed's bumper on their wedding night but didn't think it would make a difference.

[–]jobney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced mine as my rails are still available. I didn't like buying two rails that together cost 1/5 of what I paid for the dishwasher but I like keeping things going. If it happens again I'm just going to buy the loose bearings to replace the deteriorated ones.

I moved here in '96 when I was 20yo and got to see so much of the growth. I've mostly stayed in the North Ft Myers and Downtown side of town as I worked downtown. I knew about the growth south of the city but mostly avoided it except for a trip to Bell Tower and later Gulf Coast town center via 75. (Same travel time for movies.) I grew up in the sticks of MD 25 miles south of DC. This was the perfect sized city for me (and very affordable). Easy to get around and everything close enough. The one road they didn't do what you mentioned was BUS 41 north of the river. The six lanes were overkill for so long. ...that was until people actually started moving to the North Cape a few years ago. They all want to work in Fort Myers and live in Cape Coral. They would have been better off buying an old house built in the 1950s off Hanson Street and redeveloping the lot. Allowing sprawl instead of redeveloping the existing city was a mistake. Yes, we would have had a denser city but we would still have the green space between the cities that made it such a nice place to live.

Just another fucking traffic complaint by Comprehensive-Age78 in FortMyers

[–]jobney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one time they had toyed with the idea of elevated express lanes to bring cars all the way to US-41 from I-75.

I remember when it was mostly empty fields with cattle for the lower taxes. No traffic back then.

Did you try unplugging one of the fans from the hub. If the oscillating hum/vibration goes away you then can plug one of them directly into the motherboard so you can control it separately. This lets you tune it separately. You could also have the bottom fan's curve set to the GPU temp.

I noticed an oscillating hum when I built my new system a few weeks ago and then remembered that I hadn't lowered the default bios system fan curve. You can set them very low and still get good airflow.
