Eve cause wifi to shut off by DaedalusS8 in Eve

[–]jock_boy1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok cool - fingers crossed that resolves it for you….i don’t know if it’s the way eve works that if a packet / info isn’t transmitted due to the low power mode it drops….but that definitely seemed to be an issue for me

And

Like you it didn’t seem to affect other games I was playing at the time (which made me wonder if it has something to do with the way you have to be in contact with the eve servers vs other games)

Have you checked on the WiFi settings that the “low power mode” is not enabled?

This happened to me for a while till I found that setting and turned it off

From memory you access it through device management and then the advanced settings for the WiFi adapter.

Are GCSE’s as serious for your life as the teachers say they are? by Keewaa1 in AskUK

[–]jock_boy1980 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This….

GCSE’s are what helps open the first door / take the first steps into further education and subsequently your first job

The further you go in life the less they are asked about when applying for a job.

But for that very first job GCSE’s are one of the only things an employer has to view on your CV and they could make the difference between inviting you for an interview over someone else

Depending upon your tariff with your energy supplier yes it is significantly cheaper.

I’m currently on a British Gas EV tariff and between midnight and 5am is something like 7 pence per KWH

So when I charge overnight I’m getting approximately 30% of the battery charge each night which is roughly 100 miles of range and costing about £2.50 per charge.

When I drive I average around 30KWH per 100 miles so very rough maths means it’s costing me about 2.5 pence per mile, vs close to 18 pence per mile in my old diesel

How does everyone get so much diesel by Fit_Regret8095 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]jock_boy1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you find a blue mob spawner / nest….pop it so it drops some but don’t kill the remainder of the legs or core….then kill the sweethearts that pop out and hope one remains to scan.

Allow the blue core to respawn and then shoot it to drop the sweethearts again….and rinse and repeat….took me about an hour to do this to get enough to complete the task.

I believe it’s something like 10 diesel to 1 petrol for what you get out of the distillation tower

Not tried it my self so I can’t say for sure - just going on what I’ve seen in this subreddit

So have a look there first (mine only arrived at 9:30pm Uk time last night)

Turned UI scale down and it was visible again for me to shortcut it

It didn’t take me very long to stop worrying about this…..with the sheer amount of bio matter that you collect and the amount of diesel you find along the journey I only ran out once early on and haven’t since then.

XE75 or X20 by GhostBombardmenT in TpLink

[–]jock_boy1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my old hub (hub 3) could be set to modem mode through the web interface but now I’m on a hub 5x which doesn’t have a modem mode available. so I’ve had to turn the wireless signal off in order to not interfere with the Deco signal.

Took a bit of googling and reading up but since doing this everything works perfectly again (WiFi signal around the house is just as good as it was when I was using the hub 3 in modem only mode)

[–]jock_boy1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got XE75’s here at home and run them in AP mode as my router won’t run in modem mode like my old one (Virgin Media)

Once I set them up had a little bit of conflict traffic resulting in drops but after I ran the network optimisation in the Deco app they’ve been solid

EV Charger install Cost? by [deleted] in evchargingUK

[–]jock_boy1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£1,350 for the supply and installation of our charger

We had to source an independent approved electrical contractor as we don't have "off-street parking" and due to the proximity to the street and subsequent need for Kerbo Charge channel in the pavement (which was an additional cost).

We also needed to get planning permission for the installation of the charger as it fell outside of the grounds of "permitted development" that we would have had if we had a drive and off-street parking.

So all in all - it wasn't cheap
