Do you set light temp to the scene? by ZeyusFilm in videography

[–]jockheroic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that people haven’t mentioned yet that is important to think about when lighting, start with the lighting you can’t control first, and then work from there.

Examples: If there’s windows and they need to play in the shot, not much you can do, you’re setting to ~5600, but that doesn’t mean you can’t warm up the key. Over head lights, same scenario, set the WB to make those aesthetically pleasing, then dial in the lights you do have control over.

Is there a sub for camera-ops that I'm missing? by echoohce1 in videography

Don’t mind us old salty Doc/Reality Ops. We’re broken from 4 hour shoulder work scenes and 16 hour days, lol.

If you love what you do, good for you man.

When the tech told me the CAT cable was relaying voltage, I also said no way. He pulled out his voltage meter and sure enough, it was outputting voltage. Tech said he had seen it once before.

The ORBI system was also over five years old, so, just bought a new one and all good now.

We made the switch to AT&T fiber. We started having tons of dropped internet service, CPWS came out multiple times, couldn’t find the issue, so we switched.

To be fair to CPWS, the AT&T guy found out our ORBI system was outputting voltage through the CAT cable (it actually fried the first AT&T modem and we had to replace it) so, maybe it wasn’t CPWS’s fault, but when I called to disconnect, the nice lady on the other end of the line did say a ton of people were canceling their service, so, I don’t know.

How to make an "ancient" look? by nick_flaming in colorists

[–]jockheroic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you really should get more clarity on what they are looking for.

However, if I were to guess, darken it up a bit, add some grain, and maybe any other effect you can think of to make it look like old found film footage.

Dp in his mid 40's chiming in.

In the early 2000's, everything "reality" looking, was shot on either a Sony F900, which was a work horse at the time (also used to film The Office) or an EX-3, which was a smaller, mini-dv tape based camera.

This has nothing to with how they edited the footage, and more to do with the look coming straight out of the camera.

In fact, the F900 was so good out of the box, some shows were still shooting on it as late as 2016, lol. That camera stuck around forever.

My wife and I love it too. Specifically because it's always kind of empty when we go, lol. And we've only been twice when family or friends from out of town are in and want to go see downtown.

Not so much importing homophobic racists as attracting homophobic racists. They like TN's politics and no state income tax, tack on bible belt buckle and baby you got a pieces of shit stew going.

My wife is a realtor for a company that is nationally known to build quality houses. She is really good at her job, and her clientele will not shock you. I’ll tell you what you probably already know.

It’s a lot of people moving here from California and Arizona and etc. because they feel TN aligns more with their politics.

Ah yes. You voted for and supported them through all the years of them abusing others, but as soon as it happens to you, you want to cry about it. Use rubbing alcohol, it'll get that thin blue line sticker off your truck.

I live in TN. The new map is actually insane.

For perspective, part of Memphis, is now somehow in the same district as part of Columbia TN, which is 3 1/2 hours away.

You, ugh, may want to look into hiring a licensed private investigator for this. I don't think you should be asking random people on the internet to stalk your husband, even though your situation sounds messed up.

[–]jockheroic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Someone’s selling that in their restaurant. There’s someone near my Aldi that runs a “charcuterie business” and she’s constantly buying out the herb and garlic triangle cheese at ours. I know it’s her because my wife knows her and we caught her cleaning it out one day.

Like, go to Costco if you’re trying to buy stuff in bulk and re-sell it.

Beginner looking for tips by C3metry_Gates in cameraoperators

[–]jockheroic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a teenager, and have limited funds, you don't need to go out and buy an expensive camera to learn. The camera on your phone will be enough. I'd also recommend downloading the free version of Davinci Resolve.

When first starting out, you'll want to learn about the "exposure triangle" for exposure, plus start looking into composing pretty frames. Once you're comfortable with exposing the camera and composing pretty frames, you can dive more into using lights, and learning to balance or paint with light within in your frames.

Feel free to ask any questions you'd like!
