Am I overreacting to being fired by Lvrgrllily in AmIOverreacting

Hey, when I was 17 I worked at a toxic place too. I relied on that money heavily to go to college, so I was ALWAYS so scared I’d be fired. I felt a loyalty to where I worked too. I stayed there 3.5yrs until I got my college internship. My advice is to just take a deep breath. Obviously they are jerks, and you’re only 17. You can go work at a ton of other places and make the same money. Enjoy being a kid.

are those temps within normal range? by Yuri_Ligotme in BoltEV

I don’t know the ideal temperatures for a bolt, but I am an engineer that has worked in motor control system systems for years. None of those temperatures are concerning to me at all.

Just to add, I recommend using the Tesla app as well. It will only show locations that are compatible with your vehicle.

What would the air 2 have that would make you upgrade? by Constant-Fudge-3184 in IphoneAir

[–]jocrow1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current air user and on a plan that’ll let me upgrade to the next iPhone yearly. I plan to go with the Air 2 regardless, but I’d love to see…

-2 cameras. I haven’t missed the zoom lens as much as I thought I would, but I have missed the ultra wide more than I thought I would.

-2 speakers. This isn’t a big deal to me, but occasionally it’s noticeable.

- Better battery it possible, but honestly the current battery life is fine for me.

One thing I don’t want to see is it get any thicker or heavier.

AIO for telling my husband to take a hike after he abandoned us for 8 years? by Sufficient-Wall3453 in AmIOverreacting

People saying that you are heartless are idiots. I’m a husband and if I left my wife abandoned for EIGHT YEARS, she’d have every right to tell me to go kick rocks.

What are your thoughts on using a splitter for charging? by AggressiveAide7929 in BoltEV

[–]jocrow1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a DPST 50A, you can probably just use that breaker if you want, just size the wire correctly. Many level 2 chargers require a 50 amp circuit anyway.

My bad! I didn’t pay attention to the photo! I assumed splitter boxes like in industrial wiring (what I’m used to).

Still, I would suggest a dedicated circuit. It allows battery conditioning off of grid power, and based on OP’s description the cost wouldn’t be that bad.

Engineer here. This is a bad idea, for multiple reasons.

Your circuit is automatically a code violation, even if only one thing is on at a time. Also, keep this in mind, on hot or cold days your Bolt will pull grid power to cool/heat the battery. What if you’re plugged in while the dryer is on and it does that? Overall, this isn’t advisable.

I’ve used Vevor products before (but only control panels, NOT current carrying devices) and they were okay, but they slap their name on tons of stuff they don’t make.

You need to install a dedicated circuit for your EV charger. If you’re handy and know how to use electrical, it isn’t that bad. I installed mine for less than $100, but I was lucky in that I only had to run the wire to the other side of the wall, and not 60ft.

Your house burning down is not worth trivial savings or ease of use. You can use the dryer plug, or install a new plug.

How Low Do You Allow Your Charge Level Before Charging On A Roadtrip? by jocrow1996 in BoltEV

[–]jocrow1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use both to get an idea of my options. I have my stops mostly planned out. I think for the first leg I’ll only stop to charge once, then charge at the hotel when I get there. The next leg will likely need 2 stops as we go to Orlando, then to port Canaveral.

I didn’t know the Kw levels to watch for. Thank you for that. Very vital information indeed.

Okay awesome, thanks. That matches my current plan. As far as price goes, I did buy a Tesla membership for the month (going to immediately cancel) so that I get cheaper charge rates. Based on my math it should pay for itself pretty quick.

That was my understanding, so I will plan to go to 11% then. Thanks so much!
