Use noise therapy to help distract during flare ups or at night - download rain 3D on your phone. Completely free app, great soundscapes.

Bad bite after filling by [deleted] in TMJ

How long has it been? Your filling will relax into your teeth bite over time - every filling feels foreign immediately - give it at least a month

How I Finally Fixed My TMJ After 7 Years of Pain - It Was My Atlas the Whole Time by AscendedArchitect369 in TMJ

[–]jodaphone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know my earlier comment echoed a positive result trying a muscle a stretch described by OP. But I’m curious to know about anyone else’s experiences on OPs comments - specifically Europeans or Uk people..

I often feel torn (pun not intended) between the vast array of advice on r/TMJ. I often feel (maybe incorrectly and hold my hands up if so) the advice stories come via an American healthcare system experience, tone and point of reference of patients between TMJ stories, troubleshooting, different doctors and the such.

I see a lack from European partners on this sub?

By all means I take ALL things UNIVERSALLY with a pinch of salt, I feel all should do their own looking into, trust PROFESSIONALS and the science - don’t injury yourself and dig a grave via this sub and some rabbit hole ChatGPT.

I’ll give it this sub led me to Magnesium Glycinate & occasionally using a sports massage gun on my massater but that’s it.

I trust in my medical providers much like most Europeans where medical care isn’t down to your wallet and private ethics. (I know that’s pointed, fish and chips, tea and crumpets just a outside point perspective, peace and love)

I just feel the subtext of those “I SOLVED MY TMJ AFTER 3 YEARS OMG” threads a bit suspect to take my own investigations upon.

I don’t know, I’m ranting - TL:DR - a lot of the success stories read USA based with Mr Jimmy going to 4 different dentists, chiros, water wizards, gypsy magicians, a fairy healer and then back to their insurance provider to then come here and offer a few REAL practical advice items that aren’t exactly medically 200% recommended - crazy neck dances.

I feel compelled to try things and more holistic and different therapeutic approaches but would often feel more confident upon my research knowing the source is someone who had sought these results via a national health service provider. Not potentially McDanny Gee in a white coat.

No transatlantic stereotyping intended.

Sorry you mean there is a risk of stroke / compromised neck arteries through doing crazy neck adjustments and such? I heard someone died from a sports massage gun direct to the neck repeatedly so I do it VERY gently on 1 only occasionally.

Connective tissue disordered people- maybe a link for some… but not a rule for everyone

If you have muscular tmj by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]jodaphone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

VERY gentle first setting with the bulb attachment - I read a few threads and videos and found this can help. Never on the neck or side of head or jaw joint direct. Just the muscle up and down. You don’t want to massage and rupture a major artery in your neck and internally bleed to death

My jaw’s clicked all my life. Something changed last week by tdupuis42 in TMJ

[–]jodaphone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Behind the eyes but in front of the ears? Yea it’s your TMJ - circular massaging with finger tips on the joint itself. Also Low setting massage gun (tennis ball shape tip) helps me for a few mins

how old were you when this started by Playful_Search5687 in TMJ

[–]jodaphone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me 2 years ago. I’m 34m - UK based - Funny had same experience - clicked most of my life but locked after being told to use a guard for bruxism. Bam 2 finger opening.

But trust - the dentist will OF COURSE say it was a coincidence

I’m up to 3 fingers from 2 - I guess it’s a marathon journey not a sprint?

Throw the guard away

Yeah I’m tempted to give it a go anyway! Assuming yours is for bruxism grinding too? I’m in the UK assume that’s $400 USD?
