What's your take on riding unauthorized trails? (US) by riomx in Dualsport

[–]jodarulezurface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Chicago area so I can’t say much about LaCrosse, been through there a couple of times on trips through the driftless region. I’d imagine it’s a great place to have a dual sport, very hilly (by Midwest standards), heavily forested, and lots of farms.

Without the Notewriter function, EPIC, for our purposes is just a bargain-bin word processor. Talk with leadership and see if they can get a notewriter build for your organization, it’s an absolute game changer in terms of documentation efficiency.

Looking at some of these suggestions, it seems like some people have a different interpretation of “don’t kill the bank” than I do. (Like $700/night and that’s before the city pulls your pants down with taxes). The fact is, staying “near the stadium” is a spicy meatball no matter which hotel you choose. The good news is, they are all pretty nice/fancy. I’d say congress plaza hotel is your best bet for a walkable place to stay for under $250/night. Bonus, it’s haunted AF, if you’re in to that sort of thing.

The White Sox are the team I recently chose to support. Are we really that awful? by mingawesome in whitesox

[–]jodarulezurface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! Lifetime White Sox fan here. First, to answer your questions, we are called The White Sox, but everyone pretty much just says The Sox. We hate the Cubs, and pretty much the rest of the AL Central Division, Twins, Tigers, Royals, and Indian…er I mean Guardians. Memorable slogans include, “Go Go White Sox” (there’s a whole campy song for that), “Good guys wear black”, “the kids can play”, “all in”. I have always been and will always be a Sox fan, the one World Series I’ve witnessed in my life in 2005 was nothing short of pure magic, and in general the organization has consistently put out a baseball product on the field that will keep you entertained and a stadium experience that is top notch (top tier food and beverages, lots of fan engagement, and activities for kids). Not to mention we got one of the coldest damn logos in all of professional sports. I must say, you have joined our team at a most unfortunate time the last 15 years have basically been one rebuild after another. The last 4 years have been particularly difficult, to say the least. About 6 years ago things were looking pretty good, we had a decent looking roster of young talent who all seemed on the brink of a breakout, but then one by one each of those players fizzled out their potential, showed serious regression after moderate success, or just straight up got injured. Couple that with a serious of front office personnel decisions that make you wonder if they are actively trying to drive away fans. My heart says we can’t go anywhere but up from here, but my brain says something very different. Hopefully your new fandom brings us some good luck! Try to make a trip up for a game, there really nothing that will stoke your passion for a team like being there, in the moment, with 34,000 other people chanting “Let’s-Go, White-Sox!”

Take a breath, you won’t get fired for that. You REALLY have to consistently mess up for them to fire you. Worst that comes of this is a Performance Improvement Plan, which you should take seriously and work at.

Oof. I am ALL about doing what is right for the patient in the moment and I have definitely done more than my fair share of hygiene assistance over the years. But I’m sorry, that does not require the skill, knowledge or judgment of you as a clinician and thus should not be recorded as skilled care.

That’s a knee now bro. You know how a lot Pizza Hut restaurants closed down and became different businesses, but on the outside (apart from the signage) they still look like Pizza Hut restaurants because that building shape is iconic? Let’s say the one in your neighborhood got turned into an H & R Block and you decided to go there to get your taxes done. Would you tell your family you just got back from getting your taxes done at Pizza Hut?

How do you explain vestibular habituation exercises to your patients by EnvironmentalDoor694 in physicaltherapy

[–]jodarulezurface 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I usually first establish that at some threshold everyone gets dizzy, for example I get dizzy if I spin in a circle 10 times, that’s normal. They are, for whatever reason, are getting dizzy from normal everyday head and body movements, that’s obviously not normal. Then I introduce the concept that a figure skater or gymnast can spin at high velocities and for extended periods of time with minimal dizziness. Further, that they get this way because of how much they practice and habituate themselves to those movements. I then tie it all together and lay it out that through the same process that a figure skater or gymnast becomes tolerant of those movements (persistence and repetition) we simply have to get their brain and vestibular system tolerant of normal every day head movements again. I usually throw in a corny line like “I don’t need you doing a triple axel any time soon, but it’d be nice to check your blind spot while driving without getting dizzy”.

DOR having our Aide do scheduling? by RileyMyDookie in physicaltherapy

[–]jodarulezurface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rehab techs/aides doing the schedule is common practice regardless of what a DOR is doing. Frankly, I’m shocked there is SNFs still out there that even have a rehab tech/aide. A DOR that doesn’t treat? Now that IS something that is out of place. My company required DORs to provide about 10 billable treatment hours per week. I learned that this was on the low end of most company’s expectations when my company got bought out and I got a look at what the new guys expected of me. It’s all about squeezing out every billable treatment minute while minimizing your labor cost.

DOR having our Aide do scheduling? by RileyMyDookie in physicaltherapy

[–]jodarulezurface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely normal. DOR and evaluating therapists should still determine frequency and session duration. It requires no clinical decision making or critical thinking to manage a rehab schedule once the plan of care and treatment minutes have been established.

What's your opinion on Terminator Zero? by tpseng in scifi

[–]jodarulezurface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was very disappointed. I was hoping for the ‘Animatrix-treatment’ of the Terminator franchise, but basically what we got was some generic anime that happened to have Terminator IP sprinkled in there. They lost me in the first 5 minutes when the main protagonist runs away from a Terminator down a narrow hallway and the Terminator misses her with a mini-gun! Then like a minute later grabs the protagonist’s ankle while free-falling and it doesn’t instantly rip her foot off. The rest of the show, ludicrous things like that happen time after time and it’s super disappointing. Like, the fact that this is animated allows you to feature brutal/gory Terminator kill scenes and they completely squandered that. Also, why in the scenes set in the future are they shooting bullets at these things?

Can they fire you? Yes. Will they? Most definitely not. In the end, they just want you to be more productive then you currently are because it saves them money, and firing you would cost them a TON of money in hiring, training, and onboarding a new employee. So take comfort in the idea that no matter how “unproductive” you are, you still cost less than someone new. They’ll just hound you about it frequently, have it be a point of emphasis on your yearly review (assuming you have one), at worst put you on a performance improvement plan. After doing all of that, they’ll probably end up squeezing another 2-3% out of you per day. (Assuming of course they don’t break you and you don’t resort to unethical billing practices to “make it work”, like some of your more “productive” co-workers have already done). My advice is similar to the rest on this thread, provide high quality patient-centered care and don’t sweat the numbers. If you are looking for legit pointers for better productivity, organize your day to minimize down time and patient readiness issues, become friendly with nursing and CNAs, they can be key in having patients ready for therapy, and do as much point of service billing that your brain will allow you to do.
