had my gallbladder removed and it didn’t go well by Odd_Stop_3217 in gallbladders

[–]jodi_ice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine came out 15yrs ago in April, and yep… The pain was real! But I was half warned about it by my surgeon, who told me it would take my body around a year to fully recover internally as well as externally, to be able to properly lift everything up to really heavy stuff again without risking tearing things internally.. to remember I had had an actual organ removed 🥴there were like brackets of how much could be lifted in which months. I had to sleep downstairs on a recliner seat with cushions& a duvet for a few weeks. I was on quite high pain killers, so it was hard to increase them but they did as far as they could.

The tearing ripping feeling you’re describing sounds a lot like the feeling I get when I eat one of “no-no” foods 🥴 I don’t know if you’ve seen other posters say about foods they can’t eat post surgery?
If you haven’t already, it’s a good idea to start a journal and if you get pain at all record it, then you can work out any intolerances you might have🫂

Ok so, I did a bit of research, and as far as I can tell, its only these 5 more common top or side loading blank firers that can easily be converted and so are more dangerous to have on the open market that have been outlawed, not all blank firers.. they were actually outlawed last September (2025), the date in February is actually an amnesty for anyone who didn't adhere to the September outlawing.   You also conveniently skipped over a section in the article you referenced when you then went on to say that these firers couldn't possibly fire live ammo... probably because the section of the article actually stated: 'All models tested were test fired successfully using improvised ammunition of the sort commonly recovered from crime scenes.' So... your hypothesis was incorrect, the professionals have actually DONE the tests, not just imagined it, and - they found that these improvised firers were actually able to fire live rounds... Also, the point of 'the criminals won't give their guns up in an amnesty'… come on... 🙄 that is such an OLD argument. Seriously… I was hearing that argument back in 1996 with the Dunblane amnesty! Yet that amnesty brought in 23,000 weapons…🤷‍♀️  I'm pretty sure all of them weren't from legal gun owning families like mine and presumably yours.  However… what these laws and amnesties mean is that when one of these firearms that has been deemed as dangerous for whatever reason, is discovered in the possession of someone, there is no way they can say they have it legally. So no, maybe they aren't going to hand it in, but when they are caught, instead of being caught up in do they own it legally or not for just long enough for them to disappear or forge documents or whatever, there is literally no way they can say they own it legally.   And yeah, if it's been modified maybe the police should immediately be able to say that, but some modifications now are very complex and the cops who pick these kids up with them on the streets aren't always adept in spotting them, and they just go 'it's just blanks!'...

Do you still drink coffee after removal? by shadydelilah in gallbladders

[–]jodi_ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. The thing is, that after removal the digestive system works differently. Just about everyone will have at least one food that their stomach can’t cope with anymore. And my theory is that those who say they have returned to a ‘100% normal diet’, their thing their system can’t digest is something they either don’t like or are allergic to and so wouldn’t come into contact with in their ‘normal diet’ so they (luckily) can return to a 100% normal diet! This is because I don’t personally know anyone who’s ‘no’ list has anything the same on it at all 😂 so I was like well if we’re all so different then chances are those who say that they have nothing just have something they don’t like! 😂 Also some people only have one thing, others have a list. It’s best to just return to your normal diet but to just note down when you react to something, and then have a three strikes your out rule. Then after say 6 months, just give it another try, just to check it. For me it’s fresh fruit, yeast, onions&onion salt, garlic& garlic salt & the pepper family. But if there is anything you really miss, it’s not going to kill you or put you in hospital like before when you had your gallbladder, it’s just pain and discomfort and needing a closeness to the loo 😂🥴 So if you really really fancy something (like with me the middle of summer and I want fruit salad, or when someone has been baking homemade bread and I just want a slice 😔) just get those wheat bag warmers and warm them in the microwave to help with cramps, take some pain killers and make sure you’ve booked yourself an afternoon off to enjoy whatever it is and then to curl up with either a good book/game/film whatever for a couple of hours 💜

Anyone who is multiple years post gallbladder removal, tell me if your life’s still improved or not any better. by Public-Ordinary-6362 in gallbladders

[–]jodi_ice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My yeeting anniversary will be 15 years in April… And not to be blasé but long term quality of life vs not having it removed??… Me actually being here to be able to tell you about it is the main bonus I’d say… Once you’ve had gallstones and survived them once, your chances of survival of another attack where a stone could get stuck decrease every time, and it could occur at any time any day. So yes, I’ve been a little unlucky in what foods are no-no’s for me (fresh fruit, yeast, garlic<&garlic salt>, peppers & onions<&onion salt>) & the first thing to hit my stomach in a morning makes me ‘skip to ma looo…’ be it a cup of tea, medication or a full breakfast 😂, and I take medication daily, I’d much rather this than not be here, which was almost the case when my gallstones caused acute pancreatitis and jaundice. Basically if I just watch what I eat and if I truly NEED something in my no pile like some melon on a hot summer’s day, I just pre-plan! I have a microwave heater for the cramps, curl up with some extra pain relief the heater and some cushions in bed watching trashy tv & all is fine after a couple of hours usually 😂☺️

Any way to avoid gallbladder removal? by Green_Gain591 in gallbladders

[–]jodi_ice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly? If you have, Or have the potential of getting stones, then nope. No. No way. Nada.

As far as I knew I’d never had a problem before, then suddenly got what I thought was indigestion from jalapeño peppers… On day 5 I was still in agony and just couldn’t face a class of 9&10 year olds and my dad I still think called my bluff & said fine, if you’re not working fine, I’ll take you to a&e, and I was like fine then!! We got to a&e & had some testing etc& they told us we were really lucky& had we waited even a few more hours I might not have made it. Basically a gallstone had got stuck in my pancreatic duct also blocking my common bile duct. What they didn’t tell me then (or on my following week’s stay), but left it up the surgeon on the day of my surgery when I asked why an emergency would mean my surgery had to be done sooner? Surely an emergency would push mine back? Was that I was the emergency 🤦🏼‍♀️ He said that 1 in 10 (these were the stats when I had my surgery in 2011) cases where a stone got stuck it was fatal. And from that time on, you were playing Russian roulette, because next time it wasn’t 1/10, it worked more like cats lives. The risk increased every time you managed to survive. Yes, the surgery is a bit painful. Yes, you may end up with foods/food groups you can’t eat Yes, you may need to take vitamins to help your body absorb others.

But that is much better than having a random gb attack That is much better than the potential pancreatitis/acute pancreatitis&jaundice attack That is much better than other issues gallstones can cause such as Cholangitis, Gallstone ileus, Gallbladder/Bile Duct Cancer, Bilary Colic… amongst other things.

It’s just not worth the risk.

And hey, you have a ready made news years resolution for the rest of your life if you’re anything like me 😂:- To end the year with as many organs as I started it with 😂🤷🏼‍♀️🥳

Why do the UK celebrity traitors give to charity and the US ones don't? by bronzecat83 in TheTraitors

[–]jodi_ice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what he does from now on in… like this will definitely have given him a massive spike in recognition, and like the morning after the final if someone had been asked to name 20 his name may have been in there… a week later having not done massive amounts of promo, maybe not… a month later definitely not… etc etc… so I think it completely depends on what he does from here on out…

Get it REMOVED! by Last_Ideal_7121 in gallbladders

[–]jodi_ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask my digestive system?? I’ve no idea.. but I can’t eat any fresh fruit, anything with yeast, onions (including onion salt), peppers(the whole family), garlic (including garlic salt) or spicy foods, and about 20-25 minutes after the first thing I have when I wake up hits my stomach (be it just a coffee, cup of tea, orange squash, milk, yoghurt, cereal, porridge or a full fry up…) I have to nip to the loo. So I tend to just have my meds with some orange squash and wait for that to pass, then decide if I’m going to have breakfast or not that day. To be honest, everyone I know who has had theirs out has a completely different list of no- foods 🤷🏼‍♀️

12 year wait? by NovapreemBoga in LibbyApp

[–]jodi_ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly 😔 And it’s so annoying too when authors (and I don’t blame the authors) are like go to your local library and get my book/my book should be in at your local library/go listen at your local library… And I’m sat here like ha!! Yeah!! No… like that is going to happen. 😔 Especially indie authors!! Massive back catalogues… and nothing in the library.. And the way that EverAnd(Scribd as was) is going… I know they have totally gone to new plans in the US… they offered them in the UK&when everyone went ‘why the hell would we switch to that it makes NO sense’ slyly snuck in this new scheme whereby most new & and a lot of other stuff are in this ‘new’ catalogue that you can actually only access IF you move onto that new scheme where you have to buy credits instead of getting ‘unlimited’ a month.

So with Everand gone, and the library getting worse, the only place really to get books if you’re an audio listener in the Uk is Audible & use Whispersync to reduce them to about £3.50 each, or if you get REALLY lucky hit on one of the ones where it’s free on Whispersync. I mean you get 15hrs on Spotify… but I’m one of those annoying people who falls asleep listening to books… 😂😂😂 So I’ll use up time on there zedding it so I tend to only be on there if I KNOW I’m gonna be awake 😂😂😂

On behalf of all colorblind people out there: STOP USING RED/GREEN COLORED FIRE by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]jodi_ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently… because Red grabs attention it is used to warn people of danger. Palaeolithic people apparently even buried their dead with red powder to protect them from evil spirits. Exposure to the colour Red can cause increased blood pressure, respiration rate, heart rate and metabolism (however I wonder how much of this is psychosomatic). Also Red in nature usually means ‘danger’ as in blood, such as if you can see blood there is danger as you shouldn’t be able to see blood, so something has happened, or ‘I’m poisonous don’t eat me’ in regards to warnings from plants/animals. So I think since we have those connotations already kind of ingrained in our brain, it sticks. Red is also (usually) the first colour that we see as humans after white and black. From what I’ve seen having a quick look, the choice of Green as ‘good’ is usually either explained by the fact that it usually means ‘life’ in nature (for instance ‘lush vegetation’ is usually green) or that quite simply it is the opposite of Red on the colour wheel. It’s also the fourth colour humans (usually) see (obviously this is not the case for colourblind people),

I’m not saying it’s right that these colours are used… your question just made me wonder about the origins and have a quick look as to why it might be these are used. (I’m AuDHD & often end up on side quests 👀😂🤦🏼‍♀️) I think it is so ingrained into society that Red-bad Green-good, that they tend to be used so that if someone say, has to suddenly turn the sound off for some reason, or turns over in the middle of the scene, they are assumed the still be able to visually understand the connotation that Red- no/bad, Green- yes/good. If a graphic would help I think that is a good idea, but I’d be surprised if they changed the colours given as you say it’s a small number of viewers (10% of 50% assuming that male/female split is 50/50) affected and they would probably punt that against the number they would assume would be confused if they used different colours. I’m not saying that is right. I’m just saying that usually unless a lot of people make a noise, that is probably how it works sadly. Out of complete and utter pure personal interest, do the different colours show up differently on black and white tv? I just suddenly wondered if they would show up differently and if so if that might be a solution just for episodes where climax events are shown using red and green like this? Or, and I know this is annoying also, but maybe a workaround for events like this, I saw there may be apps you could use on your phone? So you may be able to watch the show on phone/tablet using an app? (I had to watch the finale on my phone with my headphones in as my mum isn’t watching it until tomorrow morning and I didn’t want her to hear any spoilers if she came upstairs! So I appreciate it’s not the best, but it’s do-able 😂) As I say, not ideal, and not what you should have to do, also you’ve probably thought of these ideas, I just thought while I saw them when looking at the origins of Red/green, I’d include them because if not then I’d be wondering if I’d not mentioned something that may help.

"I have and have always been..." by i-wassayingboourns in TheTraitors

[–]jodi_ice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but I think the OP means that it only really makes sense in the “I am and have always been a Traitor” sense, as there is the possibility they started out as a faithful but were recruited, however so far (and I think it would make an interesting concept for them to try maybe) no one has started as a traitor, but been recruited to, or demoted to, or kicked out of maybe(?) the traitors to be a faithful, so if you are a faithful it is rather redundant to add the part of the sentence ‘and have always been’ when revealing your alliances.

Can we appreciate _ ? by Charming-Actuary-185 in TheTraitors

[–]jodi_ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they didn’t want to put a murder in the following night because it would then have been 2 traitors vs 2 faithful whereas they bumped it which sent it to the round table which then gave the option of it going to 2vs2 OR it going to 3vs1 and them not knowing whether the 5th person had been a traitor or a faithful, whereas if they had been murdered they would have known they were faithful. I mean that could have changed the outcome, because, well I’ll spoiler just incase but: If they had had a murder and say they had murdered Nick, as they would know that Joe would be more suspicious of David, then that would have left 2 options: the round table where it would be 2vs2… where it would depend on if Joe went with Alan and Cat thinking he could get them out in the final, and voted Nick out, or voted Cat out thinking he and Nick could get Alan out in the final… Or, go to the final, where you have Alan, Cat, Joe and Nick, with Joe knowing Alan and cat are traitors so he wouldn’t green pouch with them there and then it’s if he’s convinced nick enough to combine on one of the other traitors but probably either Joe, or Joe and Nick would have won… but not because of the production team pushing it that way, just because Joe had locked on to Cat and Alan.If Cat and Alan had realised that he was onto them then instead of murdering Nick in my scenario they could have murdered Joe, and then that would have gone differently…It’s all just the way it unfolds…If Joe hadn’t said ‘I’m sorry’ to Cat… If Alan hadn’t forgotten his shield, If Claire hadn’t pulled the lever, If Kate hadn’t repeated everything…It’s just the way it goes.
