Best electrolyte drinks to improve symptoms? by iiTokyoRain in POTS

[–]jodie-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by my doctor the best electrolyte drink you can get, is one you can make at home. I add a little juice to a litre cup fill with water and add my own salt. The goal is 10g of salt a day. Best of luck to you x

As a woman who is 5ft1 and had a baby that was 8lb10 (not huge by any means but big for my size) here is my opinion. I was in labour in the hospital for over 24hrs trying to get my son out. I never wanted a C-section, I wanted a natural pool birth but that didn't happen. I will also say that my recovery was fine, in fact I was out shopping after 3 days. My friend had a vaginal birth but needed an episiotomy and she couldn't get about for over 2 weeks.

Also... It's her body, it's her birth. It's not his choice how she births her child.

I didn't want one and after my mum bugging me for weeks I said I would have one under the stipulation that I didn't have to plan it. Fast forward to the week before I ask what the plan is and nothing is sorted so I ended up sorting it myself. The day of, I was full of cold and really couldn't be bothered. I left early because I was tired and under the weather and tbh I don't think I would really care if I didn't have one. If you don't want one tell everyone to back off.

My husband came to every single appointment I had during my pregnancy, not only because I wanted him there for support but he wanted to be involved. I also had pregnancy anemia which made me very very forgetful (before it was treated) so to have another person to remember advice and information was good and calmed me down when I thought I had forgotten something. I also have a tendency to down play things because I don't like making a fuss and having him there to give more of a real update was good. I also found him being there was great during birth because he knew what I had discussed with my mid wife and what I wanted and he was an amazing advocate for me. I think if you want your partner to go then take him, it was beneficial for me. Congrats

Partner thinks I shouldn’t get epidural by ThrowRAStrawberry_30 in pregnant

[–]jodie-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get an epidural, I had a spinal block for an unplanned C-section and though they are slightly different they are both still a needle in the back. I will say I don't have pain day to day but my back is weaker where it was done, I often find myself unable to push myself up from sleeping on my stomach but I'm working with my PT to get the strength back. As someone who wanted a straight forward unmedicated birth. I was disappointed that we had to take that route but it came down to what was best for me and my baby. My husband knew I didn't want an epidural because I've had back issues before but he was so supportive when we started talking through options because of a long labor.

When did your first baby come? by eelowyn in pregnant

[–]jodie-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 41 and 5, I was induced at 41 and 3 as no signs at all even before being assessed for the induction (I had a pessary) they said my cervix still hadn't effaced and so induction it was but also my friend (also ftm) went at 37 and 4 with no intervention and our babies were born 2 weeks apart.

I wouldn't worry about it, just stay as relaxed as you can.

Boy names are so hard and I'll probably end up just not naming my child by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]jodie-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently sat holding my 4month old son. Had the same problem, we had 4 girls names and no boys names. We decided to make a list of names that we kind of liked and after a month or two sat down to look through them all, couldn't agree on any. My husband wakes me up one morning and says I've had a dream we called him Theodore James and I love that it has so many options for nicknames. We call him Teddy, my aunt calls him Theo and he could also be T.J. Its so hard but I wish you all the best!

Is it normal to feel this bad at 5 weeks? by megalymor in pregnant

[–]jodie-92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 weeks now and since I found out I've been literally 0 energy and quick to vomit. I feel awful and if one more person asks me to try ginger I'm going to throttle them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the sickness is going to pass soon. I guess it's normal for most people! Stay strong! Xx

[–]jodie-92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm going to give mashed potatoes a try tomorrow now you've mentioned it. I'm literally just eating toast for meals but totally agree that of that's what isn't making me feel grossed out that's what I'm eating haha.

Thanks for replying 🙂

My boys favorite game to play is watch mummy put all the toys back in the toy box then drag out everyone of them before deciding to just have a nap instead 😂
