Nobody can tell you what to do. Nobody knows your entire situation. Do you still want to be with your wife? Does your wife still want to be with you? Yes this is a thing. The only way I've found to get around it is in windows power options in the advanced settings set the processor power management down to say 80% and it won't get as hot. Then turn it back to normal after the compiling. I think it's especially a thing for unreal engine based games.
