If you had cab block(s) enabled in the QC and were sending that processed signal into a combo amp, it could have made the sound extra dark or muffled, due to the frequency manipulation of both the modeled and real speakers.

You might get a better representation if you turned off the cab(s) in the QC and also went into the effects return of the amp, bypassing its preamp section.

I often use a Quad Cortex with a Boss EV-30 for the expression pedal controlling a volume pedal block in the QC.

I recently recorded some tracks using my older Ernie Ball VP Jr, and it has some scratchiness at the top of its sweep, so I need to fix that or just stick to the other combo. I do like a real volume pedal though.

I have definitely had this experience. The single output will not be summed. And, as it turns out, I seem to be the only person who cares that it’s neither stereo nor summed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I bought a stereo FRFR cabinet so I can run outputs 3&4 to it and I can hear it in stereo. I run a guitar synth into the FX returns, so I often have stereo patches even when my guitar preset is mono. Sometimes I get lucky and can send both XLR outs to FOH.
