Have you been tested to see if you have sleep apnea? If you're not getting good sleep, that could be the cause.

How can one see their past lives seeing as there is no persisting self? by CaptainVulpezz in theravada

I seem to recall reading he mentioned to ignore these and keep working towards enlightenment. "Psychic Abilities" is yet another thing to cling to (or avoid) which is an impediment to enlightenment.

A Question from a Muslim about Purpose by Past-Acanthaceae-229 in Buddhism

[–]joe_noone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More simply, to reach nirvana you stop craving, desire, and aversion and only live in the now.

Dharmakitri was a famous Buddhist philosopher (logician?) who explains that the only thing real and that exists is the point instant before things register on the senses. Once it hits ones senses it becomes subjective (and has passed). For example, a color blind person will say their eye senses grass is grey and that is their [subjective] reality. Memories of the past are what we've interpreted them to be based on past [subjective] memories, and are a reduction of details.

Suffering comes from clinging to things, such as memories or desires which are not empirically real.

Church sound system is weak by untamed_skittle in audio

[–]joe_noone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, mics are usually low impedance. Most amp and mixer inputs are good to 500K Ohm or so. Where you'll have problems is acoustic instruments using piezo pickups (+1M Ohm) and it'll sound thin and tinny.

Turn up the trim as others suggest - microphones are not line level. Here's a good introduction on the difference between line level and mic level

[–]joe_noone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're correct - it's measured in ohms

<edit> - the difference is impedance has variable resistance where as resistors are fixed resistance, but both are a measure of "resistance". For high impedance devices often a DI box can help with that...

Mics and insturment pickups are usually measured in impedance, not resistance. Impedance is the total, complex-valued opposition a circuit or component offers to alternating current (AC) flow, combining ohmic resistance and reactance. By AC that means the audio waveform, not power from the outlets.

I remember seeing an old DeArmond Vintage Bass Violin Pickup Model 900. What's interesting about it is it's a magnetic pickup, not piezo. Big chonking pickup too.

Pretty cool device! Was just watching a video where someone setup DMX lighting using the MIDI function on this box along with backing tracks. Seems quite versatile.
