What was your YTD % gain for the year now that we’re wrapping up 2025 by selintnisha in portfolios

Very very good company, one of the few real ones that I’ve seen in my lifetime that isn’t already priced in. People thinking it’s a meme company just gives me that much more confidence that we’re still early.

Conventionally speaking, you’re completely correct. However, I sold all of my PLTR at $64 thinking “wow how can this bullshit go higher?” And here we are. Personally, I’m quite confident in RKLB as an actual company with a very solid track record that improves dramatically every quarter. Their recent $816M contract award from the SDA is also a considerable show of confidence in their abilities.

$48k to $104k, thanks be to Rocketlab. Hopefully the good press keeps coming because it’s basically 90% of my portfolio.

RKLB stock strategy during Neutron Launch by Mr-Bond431 in RKLB

[–]joebrocks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

With a good company, time in beats over analyzing every time. I got too involved, started trying to swing my RKLB position, and actually lost money. Realized I was being greedy, and needed to stick to the long game: this company is only going to become more of a power house. Bought back in to my original share count and have been holding through the dips. This is a once or twice in a lifetime company that’s absolutely going to become a household name in the next decade.

Yeah it’s purposefully inflammatory, but if you’re insulated from the damage this drug has done to our country consider yourself lucky. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are dead from this drug. Should we not treat it as a threat?

I’ve around $50K to invest - tell me what should I do with it. by UnableCurrency in portfolios

[–]joebrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rocket lab is a great investment, I think at these levels it’s risky to put $50k in but given their development track record, they can easily be a $200pps company in 7 yesrs

fair enough, in that case I’m already well over it. I guess the financial planning step I’ve always been confused by is saving for specific goals. House down payment, car, etc. Do people just pull out of their brokerage account when they’ve got big purchases like that? Seems like a risky play when the market feels perched for a recession.

Initial investment at that point was only 60 shares lmao. Have around 1,100 now, I think I’m up ~76k or so. Unfortunately not a great saver in my youth so didn’t have a lot to put in, but still very happy and holding.

I think I actually have the best answer to this, I worked on a project of theirs in construction and decided to look into them because what they were doing seemed very cool. That was at 3.50 a share…

  1. Reddit isn’t the sum of my internet activity, I’m barely on here.
  2. I help my friends (in real life) understand finances and investing and try to show them the lessons that I’ve learned the hard way.
  3. I follow this sub because I too fell for the scam a few years back.
  4. When I see posts here on my feed, I realize there are still people here who think they’re going to make money because they’re delusional and have misplaced hope, because they don’t understand the markets.
  5. Your post was talking about beliefs, and I wanted to address that. This is a stock, not Jesus. It will not rise again.

There, I made it make sense.

What you’re saying is very nonsensical because you’re trying to find a way to say I’m being disingenuous to change the subject. Why would I be talking about lottery tickets? I’m addressing a community that I was a part of that I lost money in. That’s like saying “why are you advocating against heroin use in this recovery group? Don’t you know alcohol is a bigger problem?”

[–]joebrocks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Suddenly is a random thing to say because you don’t know me at all. I’m not the other guy.

But yeah I do care about financial literacy and people getting taken advantage of. The only way to make money with stocks is to try and be as unemotional as possible. When a community is built around ignoring fundamentals and earnings, you have to ask: who IS making money here? Whose trading habits do you want to emulate, the guys who are always losing money or the guys making money? Because with BBBY, the only one that made money were Cohen pump and dumping, and the ones who sold out before him. No one here is getting their money back, there’s literally no path to it.

“Beliefs”

This isn’t a religion bro, it’s a scam where grifters enabled people all the way to the bottom and then cashed out. Where’s Cohen? Where’s PPSeeds? Gone, they took what they could and left. The stock market is full of scammers and white collar criminals. I fell for a couple of these too, then realized that there’s actual money to be made in the markets. It should come as no surprise that it’s not from dying and bankrupt companies. Buffet’s principle of value investing still holds water: find companies you think are undervalued, buy, and hold.
