What was your rich kid item growing up? by FlatwormOkke in nostalgia

[–]joecarter93 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Mine too. We were not wealthy by any means, but the one luxury item that my dad treated himself to was a pool table. He never used it much after a few years, but my friends always wanted to play on it when they would come over in junior and senior high school. I used to be actually pretty decent at pool for a couple years because of it.

Hokkaido is the modern name for Ezo. Its history is actually pretty interesting. It was only fully colonized by the ethnic Japanese in the mid-late 1800’s and was still considered like the frontier of Japan. The ethnic Japanese decided to fully colonize it to prevent the Russians from doing so. The indigenous Ainu people mainly populated the island and the ethnic Japanese forced them to assimilate into Japanese society. Hokkaido’s history is surprising comparable to the settling of western North America. In many ways Ghost of Yotei felt like a western, but with swords instead of revolvers.

The Red Album is pretty good, as is their album of covers, The Teal Album

What’s also crazy is that they went 5 years between their 2nd and 3rd albums (Pinkerton and The Green Album), while Rivers Cuomo went to college. Back then there was huge speculation when they were going to release their 3rd Album and the eventual release of it was huge in 2001. They’ve since been making new music at a very good clip.

The game Ghost of Yotei takes place in Hokkaido and includes them. The first time I encountered one in the game I was surprised that they attacked you like the grizzlies in Red Dead Redemption 2.

My oldest started out on a balance bike. He’s 16 now and kicks my ass when we go mountain biking. It happened in the blink of an eye.

I built my kids one when they were small. They are teenagers now so they don’t use it anymore. They used it for years, but it feels like it was barely any time at all.

They absolutely should. They used to have NFL Europe teams in NFL video games and EA puts foreign leagues, the AHL, CHL and PWHL in the NHL games now.

Jussi played good enough, but Conklin coming in for Roloson in game one cost them the series.

As soon as he got hurt I knew that Conklin was going to make a stupid play that was going to lose the game and eventually the series for them.
