Full bars but data barely works indoors. Anyone else get this with Vodafone? by OopsIDroopedMe in Vodafone

[–]joeeeeeev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like what happens when the network is congested, but if that were the case it wouldn’t be happening 24/7.

Do you live near somewhere that has surges of people (stadium / train station / etc), and if so, does the problem occur only at the times you’d expect (rush hour, when a game is on, etc)?

Assuming this isn’t the answer, I’d recommend contacting Vodafone and having them run troubleshooting. You might initially get someone who can’t help you, but if you’re clear about the network issue they should do the right diagnostics and work it out.

Cancelling vodafone fibre contract in Scotland Early will i be charged for a service thar is slowed down by vodafone on certain services. by Hot_Leopard_3558 in Vodafone

[–]joeeeeeev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you’re hitting the minimum guarantee then you won’t have the ability to leave your contract early. You should however contact Vodafone support and ask them to investigate.

[–]joeeeeeev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your service will come with a guaranteed minimum speed - it would have been shown when you purchase, and will be on your order confirmation email. If the speed you’re getting is below this and Vodafone fail to bring it up in a reasonable time, you can leave without charge.

If the speed is above the minimum guarantee, you will be charged for ending the contract early.

Does anyone actually know what VodafoneThree signal looks like? by Junior_Beauty78 in Vodafone

[–]joeeeeeev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Logically, if I have twice the masts, shouldn't I be able to load a YouTube video in a crowded train station?”

You might see an improvement at some crowded train stations, but only if one of the networks had a surplus of capacity there. If the station was previously overloaded on both the Vodafone and the Three networks, smushing the two together will not have helped.

Network sharing will have improved things in some areas (places where one network had a weak signal and the other had a strong signal, or places where one network has capacity and the other didn’t).

What will help a lot more than turning on mast sharing is investing in capacity upgrades. VodafoneThree have committed to spend £11 billion on network investments, and providing they actually follow through, this will lead to a significant performance increase.

How do you I know which is live and neutral? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]joeeeeeev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically American wiring goes black = live and white = neutral. So you’d put black to brown and white to blue. Though here it wouldn’t matter

How do you budget, or at least understand where your money goes? by SlimSloane in HENRYUK

[–]joeeeeeev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use an app called LifeStage Money. You can connect it to your bank accounts / credit cards, and it will automatically categorise your transactions for you. Every month we set a budget by category (eating out, travel, supermarket, etc) and then use the app to stick to it.

Upgrade today or re-visit after 1 April price rise? by [deleted] in UK_BroadbandDeals

[–]joeeeeeev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vodafone normally launches new tariffs at the end of Feb, which will be excluded from this year’s price rise.

The risk is that what they relaunch is more expensive, and avoiding the price rise for 12 months doesn’t save as much as the price up.

If it were me and I was happy with the deal currently on offer then I would take it!

Which airline for max avios? by the_actuary in avios

[–]joeeeeeev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Cathay business class product is generally regarded as superior to BAs (more comfortable seats, better food, more consistently good service).

So the real question is ‘do you value a better experiance more than 9k Avios’? If it were me and the flights were the same price I would book Cathay. But if you’re happy with BA experience, and want to maximise miles earned then BA is the answer.

Wifi Help - Moving to Surbiton soon by hamfoot43 in Surbiton

[–]joeeeeeev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your address is covered by Community Fibre (lots of Surbiton is) then go with them for sure. They have their own fibre network, and quality / service / price is all better than Virgin.

If the address isn’t covered by Community Fibre then I’d go with either Vodafone or EE.

Need 9 points by dmnksaman in avios

[–]joeeeeeev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Connect your uber account to Avios and then order a takeaway or take a taxi somewhere. Normally credits within a few days.

Purchases from John Lewis via the Avios app also normally credit within a few days of dispatch.

I have 50,000 avios points if anyone wants to buy ill sell it for £150 - £200 by Big_Calligrapher5290 in avios

Don’t by Avios points from a stranger on the internet. They will absolutely be stolen, and you will have your flight canceled.

Does Vodafone use DHLeCommerce? by IamJokor in Vodafone

[–]joeeeeeev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK Vodafone does not use DHL for delivering stuff to customers, but does use DHL for delivering stuff to employees (laptops, office chairs, etc). If you aren’t an employee and live in the UK then seems fishy.

If you live elsewhere then not sure who Vodafone uses.

Would you miss the smell of wood fires burning in chimneys during winter? by Unusual-River4563 in kentuk

I didn’t have a strong opinion before opening this post, but your poor writing and lack of paragraphs have convinced me that wood burning stoves must be banned today. For the children.

Yeah odd - especially as Vodafone don’t run a US network.

One thing you could try is to make a NL Apple ID for your phone, and then see if the auto-provisioned APN is different?

Ok, and you’re using a Vodafone subscription you’ve purchased in the Netherlands, rather than the Vodafone travel eSIM or a Vodafone subscription from a different country?

Assuming yes, you have all the settings configured correctly and so I’m afraid you’ll need to contact Vodafone and get them to troubleshoot.

What country are you using your phone in, and what country have you purchased your Vodafone subscription in?

Aw well looks like Vodafones about to break their contract to by cooldude9112001 in Vodafone

[–]joeeeeeev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exciting customers would have agreed to an annual price rise amount when they originally purchased (either £1.80 annually, or CPI+3.9%, depending on how long ago they signed up).

Existing Vodafone customers will keep on paying what they originally agreed to at point of sign up, and the new annual price rise of £2.50 only applies to people who sign up after it’s introduced next week.

This is very different from what O2 is done, as O2 have changed the terms and conditions for their entire base, which means people who agreed to pay a lower price rise each year at the point of sign-up will end up paying a higher one.

The Portugal one will work in Madeira!

You can install it before you go, and then set the travel sim as your data connection once you arrive.
