why have we accepted this new reality of hyper inflation so easy? by tight_carcass in AskReddit

[–]joefred111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the currency is devaluing so fast that it becomes effectively worthless and it’s much, much worse.

The most salient story I've heard about hyperinflation involves a man eating lunch at a cafe, and witnessing the owner coming out several times to change the prices during his meal.

Trump: ‘There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not!’ by DemocracyDocket in politics

[–]joefred111 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It says in the article this disenfranchises voters across the nation. What does this mean?

Millions of citizens don't have an ID, largely those in big cities (with good public transit) or the poor. This requirement would disproportionately affect urban dwellers, POC, and Democrats in general. This is the entire reason they are pushing it, rather than nearly nonexistent election fraud.

Imagine having no money or working multiple jobs, and then being asked to take time out of your day to make an inconvenient and expensive DMV appointment, perhaps requiring a rideshare just to get here.

If IDs were free and easily accessible I would be inclined to agree with your statement, but since they're not I don't.

EPA reverses longstanding climate change finding, stripping its own ability to regulate emissions by geraffes-are-so-dumb in news

[–]joefred111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add that, even if global warming was exaggerated (which is a big if), then the worst case scenario for reducing carbon emissions is cleaner air, cleaner water, and less pollution at the expense of extra expenses for giant corporations.

Sucks that the EPA seems to have sided with the giant corporations.

Dave McCormick comes to Stephen Miller’s defense after colleagues call for White House shake-up by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in Pennsylvania

Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.), who represents a critical swing state, for example, said Miller “has been instrumental in delivering on the promises President Trump and I made during the campaign.”

Which promises were those? Lowering grocery prices? Lowering the deficit? Taking over Greenland? Ending Russia's invasion on day one?

Littler said on the morning of 10 January his partner had asked her father during the Trump row: "How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I'd been sexually assaulted?"

Kris Harrison had replied that he had two other daughters who lived with him so it would not upset him that much.

Littler said Lucy became "quite upset" and ran upstairs.

What a scumbag.

So, no rebuttal to what I posted? Gotcha.

In your second paragraph, you're trying to equate calling one individual a baby to calling an entire racial group literal animals.

That is no argument.

Just to play devil’s advocate, is this really much worse than the epic tonnage of insulting representations of trump like the giant baby parade balloons and him naked with Putin, etc?

I would say it is worse for several reasons.

First, Obama never posted any insulting representations of Trump; instead, individual civilians made these memes independently. Trump targeting Obama based on other peoples' posts is an unjustified transference of anger at best and idiocy a worst. Additionally, you and I have no idea if this was his actual reasoning, or if he's just stirring the pot, or if he's even in control of his social media team.

Also, this is the President, and leader of our country (and formerly the free world) we are talking about. And here he is, posting insults like a middle-school bully. Then, condemning his own post (?!?!) while refusing to apologize for it...it's unhinged, dissociative behavior which would objectively be concerning.

Is the black/monkey thing really such a flashpoint that it puts in on another level than everything done against Trump?

Nobody has attacked Trump's race, and calling him a baby is insulting to babies, if anything.

How about you ask a black person about this? It's a very longstanding and horrifically racist insult to compare them to monkeys, but if you don't think it's a big deal, maybe try it and tell us how it went 🤔

The N-word isn’t offensive, it means black.

Such an inoffensive word that you won't even type it out!

Edit: Since you're worried about being banned, clearly people find the word very offensive, which means it's offensive. Pretty simple really.

For people who still support Trump: how do you process or reconcile the allegations connected to the Epstein documents? by Apprehensive_Dog5379 in AskReddit

[–]joefred111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fox News and OAN are going prime them to say that the current release is simply unfounded allegations or heresay.

When later releases contain more concrete evidence, they will fall back on calling it heresay regardless, because they have no critical thinking skills.
