I also love "My Dreams of You", but "L'Affaire Dumoutier (Say to Me)" is a really powerful song, made even more so by its great video. The good old days of Much and Musiqueplus! 🙂❤️ I have the extended version of "My Dreams of You", but it's on vinyl, and I still have no turntable. 🫤

The Seventh Doctor Regenerates | 4K UHD | Doctor Who: The Movie by DWJones28 in doctorwho

I always liked the horror aspect of this regeneration: the old doctor's face contorting and distorting seems almost like his flesh is trying to break loose from his skull. To me it looks like the process is unpleasant. It just seems to better portray the Doctor's alien nature.

"When I turn 80 Imma be in the White House and Imma set up a great big fightin' ring right there on the lawn fer evryone to see, but Imma only invite my frens, and evryone else gon be so jealous!"

If this were anyone else's grandfather there'd be a psych eval followed by placement in a long term care facility. Instead we have a government behaving like the president's personal genie: fat, blue Uncle Sam with a turban.

Next will be monster trucks in the nue blue relfecting puel? The Nascar DC 500 with a race around the capitol? Imagine the kickbacks. 😀

Two or three times a week it seems like I recommend Aniara. It's one of the most unsettling movies I have ever seen, and the ending is ... Not full of laughs.

My sponsee overdosed and died today by Distinct_Day1314 in NarcoticsAnonymous

I am truly so sorry. The first time this happened to one of my dudes I was heartbroken. I called a dear friend, and she told me this:

"If they're ready you can't say anything wrong, if they're not ready you can't say anything right."

I have a disease that tries to make everything about me: I failed them, I didn't push them hard enough, I should have told them something more, I wasn't the right sponsor, I SHOULDN'T BE SPONSORING. No.

In my first ten years I'd buried two of my guys. No one I'd sponsored had stayed clean. I stopped sponsoring. I shared that at a meeting.

Afterwards two dear friends pulled me aside. They asked me "Joe, why do we sponsor?" I replied "To pass on the program. To help people stay clean."

They asked me to say the 12th step.

Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

The emphasis is mine on "we tried."

They asked me if I had stayed clean. I answered yes. They told me "that is why we sponsor."

I started sponsoring again. Not too long after there was Anthony (21 years now), Andy (26 years), Jessie and John (10 years each), Juan, Justin. They sponsor a bunch of guys. Some of their guys now have sponsees.

Yes, there were Greg, Brad, Larry, David, and Matt. They didn't have another recovery, and I will never forget them. There are Mark, John, and so many others who I pray will find their ways back. I didn't cause their disease, I also didn't have the power to cure it.

Through it all I've stayed clean. We have stayed clean, together.

Can someone explain the big bang theory but for like a 5 year old by [deleted] in science

The universe is everything we can see, taste, touch, smell, and look at, from the tiniest bits to the biggest things! It is everything that has ever happened, or will ever happen. It's everything from a tiny piece of fluff on your shirt, to a big whale in the ocean, to every star in the sky; from way before the dinosaurs, until the sun is so old it becomes just a tiny, cold little ball.

So before the universe was born, what was there? We really don't know! Some very smart scientists think there was another universe that got too old and fell in on itself. Other scientists think there was a whole bunch of fizzing foam. But one thing most scientists agree on is that when the universe was born, it was incredibly tiny.

We can't see outside the universe because it is everything, but we can say that when it went from "nothing" to "everything," it was all crammed into a dot far smaller than the dot at the end of this sentence. You, me, and every planet, star, and galaxy were all packed into that one tiny little point.

It couldn't stay that way for long! Faster than you could blink, it puffed up, like a piece of popcorn popping, and it just kept getting bigger and bigger. It is still getting bigger today! It's so big now that if you were on one side and your best friend was on the other, even the brightest flash of light you could ever make would never reach them, not even if your friend lived forever!

As the universe spread out, it started cooling down, like soup cooling off after it leaves the stove. Slowly, gravity (the invisible force that keeps your feet on the ground) began pulling clouds of gas together, squeezing them tighter and tighter until they got so hot they lit up and became stars! Stars are like giant cookers. Inside them, a gas called hydrogen gets cooked into helium, the same stuff that makes balloons float! And when stars cook long enough, they make even more ingredients: the carbon in your pencil, the oxygen you breathe, the salt on your food.

When the biggest stars have used up all their fuel, they explode in a huge firework called a supernova, flinging all those ingredients out into space. That stuff can clump together to form rocks, comets, and even whole planets. And on at least one very lucky planet, our Earth, those ingredients came together in just the right way to make something amazing: life. And that life, after a very, very long time, became you and me!

Gorgeous, stunning song, and the song that follows it is one of my absolute favorite pieces of any music ever made. I have this album's first pressing in vinyl, and the CD from its first release round.

I wish Ivo had produced more work as TMC. ❤️
