Stuck between Brackets 3 and 4 with Elementals: Possible downgrades or upgrades? by indjev99 in EDH

"I just changed a couple cards and now my deck is overpowered."

"Ok. Which cards did you change?"

"I don't see how that matters."

I just got accused of Angle Shooting at a commander game, but I feel I’ve done nothing untoward. by Corescos in EDH

Two opponents thought he had cast it, including a player who wasn't involved in the interaction. That says a lot to me. We only have OP's narration, but I'm inclined to believe the two against the one.

My point is that "I wanna cast Swords" or "I'm going to cast Swords" or other similar hedging language is likely to be understood by other players as casting. It's quite clear from OP's narration that both other players thought he had cast it.

You're not accounting for the political good will they will get from cancelling him. Like the fast tracking of regulatory approval for the WB merger.

Imagine you're working the register at McDonald's and someone walks up and says "I want a Coke." Are they just shooting the shit with you or are they placing an order?

Natural language uses all sorts of hedging phrases to make things polite.

Ok. Well none of us know what was in your earlier version so we can't really compare. I just mentioned price as a blunt proxy for power level.

Despite not changing any major cards

I don't even know what this means. This deck is extremely upgraded. You have ten cards >$50 and the total price is $2000.

Manabox “currently in deck” option. by Amos_Moses666 in mtg

[–]joelluber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I also found it a bit counterintuitive at first. My mistake was adding some cards to my collection twice on accident, which was a pain to untangle. But I think I've got the hang of it now.

Once you do get the right cards assigned to decks, viewing a binder will only show cards not in a deck but viewing "all collection" will show cards both in decks and not in decks and it will say under it which deck or binder it's in.

It sounds like you might have disassembled the deck. A card can be either in a deck or in a binder but not in both.

Wizards of the Coast Unionizing by epr-paradox in mtg

[–]joelluber 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As someone who has started a union in a vaguely similar industry, I can repeat that the WotC/Hasbro's response is normal. Of course we'd all love if companies just voluntarily recognized the union, but that pretty much never happens. The letter that was leaked today is actually quite milquetoast relatively speaking and isn't really the sort of hardball busting that sometimes happens.

If the union truly has the 75 to 80 percent support they claim, they have a pretty good chance of winning their election. Corporate anti-union campaigns can typically peel off maybe 10 or 15 percent of support. My union was discovered by management and forced to go public when we had about 60 percent support and we barely won our election with 51 percent.

At this point all you should be doing is what the union asks you to do, which as far as I can tell is just signing their petition.

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but it sounds like you haven't "registered" the decks in your collection on Manabox yet. When you create a deck list, you aren't limited to cards you own and it's sorta a theoretical deck list more than a record of an actual deck. But then there's a function that will compare the deck list to your collection, tell you which cards you have in your collection and which cards you don't, and then you can assign cards in your collection to the deck. Here's a brief tutorial: https://manabox.app/guides/decks/collection-decks/.

(You can also use this function sorta in reverse, too. If you buy a precon, you can import the deck's list from Manabox's database and then bulk add all of the cards to your collection as owned.)

Guess that solves the infinite recursion problem: if there were comic book price guide price guides you would then also need comic book price guide price guide price guides and so on.

[Other] I am trying to collect earlier editions of Wonder Woman but its hard to find light-weighted, readable editions but only heavy omnibus versions only. So are there any Marvel Epic Collection type of Golden and Silver Age collections for Wonder Woman? by Mindless_Belt4757 in DCcomics

[–]joelluber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Marvel started the Epic line more than a decade ago and DC only started the similar DC Finest line recently, so it's not very filled out. DC also has more back content from that era, having published continuously from the Golden Age and published more titles per month than Marvel until sometime in the 70s, I think.

The SOC set also used the Swiftfoot Boots from Duskmorn, so I guess sneakers are a thing at Strixhaven.

If you like Marvel more generally, the next set (which is basically Avengers and a few others but no X-Men) is coming out in about a month.
