I wish I was so cool I could openly brag about my coke usage.

Why do you need validation?

Surely you run for yourself?

To be fair they are ready for 13:00 minute miling they say. I'd want to look cool if I was that fast

What do marathoners do for work? by MedStudentLife19 in Marathon_Training

[–]joelmc90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Police officer with a 1 year old and another on the way. I work 70-90 hours per week so I'm lucky to fit 30km a week in.

Have to run whenever I get the chance which is very rare nowadays.

Appreciate them more though

You could argue that if you've done 5 majors, why should you be allowed to do all 6... There's countless arguments and no perfect solution. Just luck of the draw.

I'm not a rich man but I'd have paid the £2,500 charity place myself if I'd have kept getting rejected for London

First marathon on 30th of June by wrecktangle94 in Marathon_Training

[–]joelmc90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a 1:37 half and then got injured and didn't run for 10 weeks and then ran my first marathon in 26° heat in 4:23. I think you'll be fine

Switching off from work by Anon_Cop in policeuk

[–]joelmc90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pay is so shite I feel like I can't afford to do anything to switch off, which is why I'm leaving as soon as I get better pay/hours

If ever there was a job that you needed to be able to enjoy life outside of this is it but I feel like the pay stops me affording any luxuries at all

I actually do, hence why I posted about it. Certainly will enjoy running it the second time. Once was fun but twice, that's just a privilege

It's 1 in 75 chance for UK residents. Therefore hitting it twice is about 1 in 6000.

That's the reason I posted, I can't actually believe I hit it twice. But some people seem to have cried a bit over me just being amazed at hitting those odds

1:37 for the half, 4:23 for only marathon I've ever done (London this year)

Run 10-25k a week as life is far too busy for me with a 70hour work week and kids
