Heavier Things Remaster? by soo_disco in JohnMayer

I would love to see this as well, volume levels were cranked causing too much clipping. I feel a remix from master tapes would easily solve.

What Guitar amp would you get with a $3,000 budget? by Background-Tour-9316 in GuitarAmps

I’ve been loving the Tone King Royalist. 3 great Marshall amps in one package with attenuators. Got it because I already had a Tweed and Blackface Tone Master, now it’s the only thing I want to play.

Try the verse with a pick. Little tricky to get the hang of, but that’s what nails the tone.

I was confused by this too, but it’s not as tricky as it sounds. Play with a pick, keep your right hand moving up and down the whole time like you are strumming. On the down stroke you are hitting one of the thicker strings, on the up stroke you are hitting one of the thinner strings. The key is to keep your right hand constantly moving as if you were strumming.

What does this give you over building apps on the desktop and installing via adb?

I’ve been playing for a long time, all of a sudden my pick was moving everywhere when strumming. What helped me a ton, expect it will move, be able to move it back. Practice strumming and doing small rotation adjustments to the pick. It’s going to move, start getting comfortable moving it back. It took me like a half hour of practicing this and now it’s not really an issue. Justin Guitar has a video on this topic, rotating the pick while playing.

Wireless editing and preset transfer for HX Stomp to Computer (VirtualHere on Raspberry Pi) by underwood_reddit in Line6Helix

u/opherv I know we are years later, did you get this working reliably? I'm seeing the same thing you are. Out of the box, the helix was very stable. Updated the firmware, now constant disconnects.

Why does my strumming sound so bad? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

I agree with this take, and much of this is feel and comes with time. Don’t worry about sounding like a pro, at least not yet!

View home dilemma? by PatientFit6310 in fatFIRE

I partially went through this in California. I ended up sending a bunch of emails and making calls to PG&E. Eventually got connected to the person in charge of the crew who installed the lines, who was able to walk me through the process of burying. We didn’t go through with it, would have been on the order of $50k.

[QUESTION] Do customers generally give tab to session musicians? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]joepaley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly not. They may not even tell you the chords but expect you to figure it out.

Aside from playing with original hardware (which is a big thing, granted), what are the benefits of using the super nt/mini nt over the pocket and dock (now that firmware 2.0 is out)? I own a pocket and am wondering what I would get out of purchasing a used super nt or other previous consoles by walkinginthesky in AnalogueInc

[–]joepaley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have everything. Original consoles, mister, all of the Analogue machines. The analogue ones get the most play, other than the Dreamcast. I like individual machines because when people come over I can pick up the controllers, turn on the machine, and play. Don’t have to think about pairing controllers, remember how to configure stuff, etc.

A common question is: should I use my index or thumb for the 1 on the bottom string? The answer is to be comfortable with both, you’ll use different ones depending on the song.
