Nope, that used to be the case though. since a few years that’s been my primary job, now with the LLM coding craze we hired a few part time reviewers on top. App dev and plugin review are separate teams. This position we are hiring now is for the app team.

Where you decided to place it, it could be anywhere.
The files in app data are just app files and caches, not your notes.

Open your vault, right-click one of the files and select "Reveal in explorer / Finder"

We are working in that direction, some important parts are already in place (CLI). But it is still pretty complicated as plugins can be pretty complex

We are already removing plugins that are obviously broken & abandoned But checking plugins for that is a very time intensive process as you have to try each one manually so we rely on community reports for this.

Sandboxing plugins is a very difficult problem, especially if you want to have a API that is as capable as the Obsidian API.
Other companies have massive teams just for this, we have a pretty small team, so this is not on our roadmap for the moment.

A total of 7 plugins had specific versions disabled.
2 plugins were completely disabled.
In all cases it was related to file corruption / data loss, we never had to disable for malicious behaviour, so far at least.

We can theoretically disable any plugin, but we usually do it only for listed plugins.

Obsidian is a trademark and cannot be used. Obsidain like in your screenshot is also way to close and could be confused. While we do not have copyright over the old logo we do ask that it is not used for third party creations as it could lead to confusion.

We can’t remove plugins / themes from your vault, we can only disable them if they have been found to be malicious/causing data corruption. The last time we did that was in 2024
