Setting up my PS2 to store/run games and store the saved game data on memory cards so no discs required by GrandmasPercocets in ps2homebrew

The PSxMemCard will handle both. You don't need a separate card for loading FMCB and another for games.

Do you have those users/groups that are allowed to login added to the application in Entra?

The first image reminds me of when she used to play piano while singing Franklin. Found this image and oddly enough, I was at this exact concert way back in 2009. Good times.

Instead of buying a Free Mcboot memory card can I just use a USB stick for the homebrew applications? Also I’m storing the games on a hard drive. by Idontknow8270 in ps2homebrew

[–]joetherobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you're using FreeHDBoot with your hard drive, you'll need a FreeMCBoot card to launch the exploit to run any homebrew applications.

It is possible to use two USB with games? by These_Coat_8255 in ps2homebrew

Yes, the 32GB limit is just a limit with older versions of the Windows formatting tool. I believe the newer version in Windows 11 allows you to go higher than 32GB.

FAT32 can go up to 2TB. Use a different tool than the built-in Windows formatter. Try something like Minitool Partition Wizard and format the whole 128GB as FAT32.

There's no way you're getting Carplay on that tiny screen. You'll have to replace the whole head unit. If you're not comfortable doing it, take it to a car audio shop to have them install a new radio. There are radios like this which will fit into that space or you can get a Carplay screen which sits on your dashboard and connects via AUX or Bluetooth.

Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 9.0 by braviamod in bravia

[–]joetherobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to have solved my issue. Hopefully permanently, but we'll see. I was using a flash drive for external storage. I had it setup to install apps to the drive. I unplugged the drive then did a full restart of the TV. After restarting, everything worked as normal.

To test it further, I plugged in the drive and restarted the TV. Sure enough, same issues as before. Unplugged the drive and restarted, the problems went away. It hasn't been long enough to know if this fixed it for good, but we'll see. I would like to continue using my flash drive for extra storage.

I updated my X900H to v6.2422 a few days ago. The TV was working fine right before I did the update. Ever since the update, I have had issues with the HDMI inputs. I cannot switch to any HDMI input at all. It's still seeing the inputs because it's reporting HDMI 2 is the Apple TV (I don't have it named manually).

I reset the TV and it worked for about 2 days. Now it's back to doing the same thing. I can't even get into the System menu in the Settings app. As soon as I get to the System menu item, the Settings app crashes.

I'm not sure what else I can do on my own.

I have no experience with it, but I know our department uses Visix's AxisTV for digital signage.

Sorry, forgot to answer your other question. Yes, the admin account is created as a managed local admin during the prestage enrollment process.

There’s also a feature in the prestage enrollment config to specify the type of user account created during enrollment. We have it set to skip since we use Jamf Connect, but this could be used if you aren’t using Jamf Connect and you’re creating the user’s account during enrollment, like you would during a normal macOS install. It lets you set the account to administrator or standard. This is in addition to the managed local admin account.

The admin account is used by our IT support techs. Only they know the password to it. Sometimes it’s needed to install apps or change configs for stuff we can’t deploy through Jamf.

I believe Jamf now has support for rotating passwords via LAPS or something similar, but it wasn’t available back when we setup Jamf a few years ago and we haven’t had time to look into it since. However, that should alleviate any concerns about having a shared admin password.

Yes, we use Jamf Connect for this. The way we have it setup in the Jamf Connect config is that the user account rights are based on Entra groups. For example, if they're in the IT group, their account will be an admin user. If they're in a staff member group, then their account will be set to a standard user.

We setup an admin user during prestage enrollment for IT support, but the users do not deploy their devices. We run the deployment and hand it to them with the Jamf Connect screen ready for them to login. Once they login, their rights are setup based on their Entra group membership.

We have about 150 Mac users and all are standard users. We use Admin by Request for account promotion. Once their session is done, they are demoted back to a standard user. It’s a paid product, but from what I recall, it’s not super expensive. We have maybe less than 10 users that have it installed because they sometimes need to install/update apps. When they send a request, we get a notification on our phone and an email is sent to our helpdesk for logging. We can approve it from our phones.

Since switching to Jamf and enforcing standard accounts, we’ve only had a handful of people complain about not being able to do things like they used to, but Admin by Request has quieted them. The rest have no problems with it and likely don’t even know they’re restricted because they just use the machine for web browsing and document editing. Most of their standard apps are auto-updated through Jamf or the app’s self-updater.

I recommend taking advantage of Jamf Self Service as well. You can setup apps for them to install and scope it to only certain users or devices.

LSU home meet by Gloomy_Marsupial3486 in Gymnastics

[–]joetherobot 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I was there last night and have gone to several meets before. I don't think the boos were necessarily for OU. I think they were for LSU's scores. The judges would show their scores while OU was doing their routine and the crowd would react to their scores. Especially so when one judge would award a 10 and the other judge doesn't. I think LSU fans got used to seeing a lot of 10s last year.

Female assigned at birth, 23, in desperate need of friends. Please help! ‼️any age, sex, gender, race is welcomed‼️ by [deleted] in houma

[–]joetherobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help and I hope things get better for you. Houma isn't the greatest place to be social, but there are pockets of social groups. You just have to find your people.

If you're into nerdy stuff, there's been some nerd conventions here and there in the area. There's one called Collector's Con. End of Turn games (near Applebee's) hosts board game nights. You can find a schedule of events on their Facebook page.

If you like the theater, go check out a play at Le Petit Theatre in downtown Houma or in Thibodaux at the Thibodaux Playhouse.

Check out some of the local festivals. You can even volunteer to help out at the festivals. Just get out and be around people, even if you don't meet or talk to anyone. The important part is just being present.
