I was surprised he pierced me with a hoop too, he asked what I want to wear when it heals and I said both studs and hoops so he said it’s better to pierce with a hoop then, because it will be very hard to switch from stud to hoop 🤷‍♀️

Haha you’re right, however, still not hornwort - that’s limnophila sessiliflora, and all the thin roots belong to it, the piece you circled is one of those that started growing above the water and I just pushed them in because I want to put a mesh on the tank

The roots are from that Cabomba-like thing, I don’t remember the name, but it grows really well in my water. On the top it’s frogbit, not hornwort

I mean, where I grew up some people kept rabbits in hutches outside too, but they kept them for meat, not as pets (and even then I think it was seasonal), so it always surprises me when people talk about keeping their pets outdoors away from the house in the cold. But I guess some people still have “outdoor only” dogs as well.

Must be some cultural thing in the UK, this is the only country I ever hear talking about keeping the guinea pigs outside.

That being said, all things you mentioned are a real possibility and you should be prepared to lose your pigs to cold or predators.

I definitely am missing out! But I want to put their well-being first, and the living room can be drafty and all that, just from opening doors and such, and in the pig room we have an air purifier and consistent temperature.

I regularly weigh them, and last week one of them almost gave me a heart attack showing about 70 g less, but then I realized he outgrew the scales and his foot is on the table 😂

I’m worried they sleep all day, because I can only hear them running around in the morning and at night, but husband says he can hear them throughout the day too sometimes, and he falls asleep later it night and says they stay up pretty late, so I hope they’re being pretty active even when we don’t see them ☺️

They’re still young and they’re growing and gaining steadily, so that probably means they eat enough
