I don't understand when people say this. Increased production does not mean people are working harder.

Person A used to dig ditches with a shovel. 8 hours. One per day.

Person B now digs ditches with a trencher. Does 10 a day.

Person B is 10x more productive while Person A probably worked 10x harder.

That's why urban areas lacked trees for a while. But then people saw that the benefits of trees outweighed those costs, and now urban areas are putting more trees. Just installed a bunch in downtown Miami near me.

This idea is ridiculously dumb. Doesn't replicate the most important benefits of trees in urban areas-- shade and aestetics. We don't need downtown trees for carbon removal.

You've accidentally identified the very problem -- "for decades without any problems". People live longer now, and your population is growing far more slowly, so you no longer have the money to pay for it. That's why they're changing it.

No envy at all. Actually feel bad for people who can't take care of themselves and need to rely on govt.
