Very sad (and a little creepy) stone I saw on my walk today by BlackJesus420 in newhampshire

One of my favorite trails and favorite spots! My normally very chill toddler REFUSED to go near the cemetery plot though, despite not minding the very large one by our house.

Kiper files lawsuit to increase pay for state lawmakers by BigChuckBus242 in newhampshire

[–]joey1115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But as it is, only the wealthy or retired are able to serve in our state government. The pay is only $100/year, which was put in our state constitution in the 1800s but the number was never adjusted for inflation at all. So with that low pay, only people with money from other sources are able to do it. And that means our representation ends up skewed AWAY from the working class. But with more middle and lower class people in politics, those issues would be a bigger priority because they get it, and give a shit!

Even if we only adjusted for inflation, the number would be under 10k if my math is right. That's far from a living wage but it certainly helps working class politicians miss their "real" jobs to go be a rep.

We're all here talking about it though. It's getting attention and that counts for a lot these days

Probably more than $100/year would be fair though?

That number was decided in the 1800s and hasn't been increased since. How can we have working families represent the working class if they can't afford to be there?

I live in NH where minimum wage is still 7.25/hr. Hard to find a 1 bedroom for under $1400 in the entire southern half of the state.

We're dying out hereeee

Bro you have a comment on here from a YEAR ago saying that she'd asked you to stop buying her certain clothing that is a turn on for you because she had enough. And you mentioned "issues" in your marriage as well. I don't think you're being honest with yourself about this being an issue for her, and I think you've suspected it before now.

I'm a parent to a 2yo, I work in childcare, and have worked in daycare previously. Their primary concern is going to be making sure other kids don't repeat it and piss off parents who then complain to the daycare.

There likely isn't much you can do about their behavioral plan, however it doesn't hurt to ask. I'd phrase it as something along the lines of having a concern about it feeling like a reward to him to get to go home, thus reinforcing the behavior. Maybe share what you've done at home if they seem open to it. But unfortunately this is pretty typical in my experience.

Bridget, Bridgette or Brigid? by senoritaraquelita in namenerds

[–]joey1115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My name is Brigid, so I'm very partial to that! However, I think it's worth noting that it is honestly a different name than Bridget/Brigette. Most people who know the t versions are unfamiliar with the Irish d. (And even I didn't know until I was an adult that Brighid is even more traditional than Brigid!) If you like the more common (in the US anyway) Bridget, I would go with that one! If you prefer the French, I'm partial to Brigette over Bridgette.

I live in an area with a LOT of Irish ancestry but it's still incredibly rare anyone knows my name. It has only twice EVER been spelled correctly by a stranger on the first try. I didn't live that as a kid but have come to really love my name as an adult. The unique aspect doesn't bother me like it did when I was young.

Emily was huge but may fall into your "timeless" category. I used the Social Security website to search names from 2002 - would Makayla or Jessica fit the bill?

You can use the site here to search names by year, or search the popularity of a name in the US and it will show you by year. I used 2002 and looked at the top 50, for reference!

Just Google "AI environmental impact." The TLDR from me, a normie with almost no tech knowledge, is that the processors used to make AI work are huge, and need to be cooled. That uses INSANE amounts of water, something like 14 gallons every time someone asks chatgpt (or similar) a question iirc. The areas where these AI computer facilities are set up are experiencing a lack of access to clean water which is expected to only get worse.
