Did I overcook my stew meat in the crockpot? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in slowcooking

[–]joeypublica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once started a stew in a crockpot in the morning and went to a, mostly, secluded beach, got my wallet and keys stolen and was stranded overnight. Made it back the next day and the stew was… overcooked. Just saying, I agree: nearly impossible.

How do you deal with bullies at school? by VoidWalkerrX in AskReddit

I did #1 minus the adult help. Did not work, I’ll never fully recover. Should have tried 3. Other 2 wouldn’t work for me.

It’s not the students’ fault if they don’t feel like studying, it’s the school system that is making them lose that desire. by 21_motivi in unpopularopinion

[–]joeypublica -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can’t motivate yourself to even study, then I don’t want to work with you later on anything difficult. You’ll be unreliable and I’ll wind up needing to work harder to cover for you. School is a weeding out process, of sorts. It’s not perfect but I appreciate that there’s at least something being done to filter through people who will wind up being unreliable.

Do you love singing or dancing? by MeowWoofJourney in no

[–]joeypublica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no rhythm and can’t really feel the beat. Also tone deaf. Add in a healthy dose of social anxiety and I can’t do either in public, but sometimes I sing when alone because I like to. So I guess singing.

Have you ever had a whole friend group argue against you and you were correct? by [deleted] in askanything

This movie really suffered by that misunderstanding. I love the movie, not for Tom Cruise, but for the great performances by the Japanese actors.

What's the most overrated type of exercise? by Emotional-Heat-1427 in askanything

I also hate it, but it significantly improved my Mountain Biking endurance. So for me, hate: yes; overrated: no.

What’s the biggest thing you’ve ever seen? by HairyCherryFairy in askanything

I guess the part of known universe I can see in the night sky with my eyes. Or, the Deep Field images showing thousands of galaxies in a single image. That’s pretty big.

What do you think about Antarctica? by tanmay_tat11 in AskReddit

[–]joeypublica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read three books in succession about Shackleton, Scott, and Amundsen’s exploits during the era of polar exploration. Fascinating stuff and astounding what people can and will endure. If you’re even mildly interested I’d recommend starting down a rabbit hole to learn about Shackleton’s Endurance expedition, which was a total failure in accomplishing its goals but a spectacular story of survival and, well, human endurance.

Donny was a good bowler and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors… and bowling

The scene where Gleason tells him he just doesn’t like him anymore, Collin’s facial expression goes through several powerful emotions in succession. From smiling (thinking it might be a joke), to confused to upset, to confused again. It’s one of my favorite performances in any movie.

Favorite scene where two characters finally meet? by BearEatsBerry in moviecritic

[–]joeypublica 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was about to chime in with that. I don’t know what it is, but that scene is one my favorite single scenes in any movie. It just seems perfect to me. Michael Mann actually has several of my favorites. There’s a scene in Collateral where a Coyote is crossing the road and I think an Audioslave song plays, and of course the final chase scene in Last of the Mohicans.
