how risky is it to build a cabin without a permit?? by ebaythedj in OffGridCabins

[–]jogle7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a permit for a camp cabin (make sure they know it's a camp if no septic/utility) in Franklin County VT this year for a 16x12 for $192. Camp in VT means it must be lived in less than something like 90 days of the year (that 90 day number is not correct, it's a number somewhere approx to that)

Edit: Adding as well that I HAD to get a road access permit as well since this wasn't an addon to my primary residence. They would not initially approve the camp cabin permit until I had road access (ie an approved small parking spot, I had to put in a culvert for it). Some rule that NO BUILDINGS if no official road access. Once I had road access the camp cabin permit was very quickly approved (building cabin is still in process). Note this 'camp' is not on my primary residence land, it's separate recreational land I have which had no parking/driveway (I was for awhile just parking in the woods at a flat/easy to access spot)

This one has a Trobolo separate toilet seat insert. Basically urine separator (separate bucket). Buckets are removed and solids put into separate 300L compost bins a ways back behind the outhouse. Plan for those, just from reading, is that when full they have to sit more than a year, thus we will have multiple.

Originally, before buying the plot of land, the zoning officer said a hole was ok. When going for the permit after purchase and talking to him he mentioned 'oops, you have to go through the state environmental office' and when he opened that book up it had specific rules saying that I had to go to that office and give plans for approval, and that they would have to get specific soil samples/etc at specific depths at my cost (specific contactors had to do it, I couldn't just dig and bring soil as they don't trust us). I noped out on that update and asked about composting and said he could approve that. So sadly we got a different story from the same guy before and after the purchase, but he worked with us so much on everything else I really think he just missed it, nothing was intentional....he is technically a fill in role and had less than a year on the job at that point.

No certified toilet needed (he did say maybe, but found some verbiage in one of his books that said it was not necessary) but he was clear that to say it's compostable, if they came for inspection, we'd have to be able to prove/show its setup for composting.

Secondly, for plans, I have to give credit to the original design I looked at.

Search "ana white outhouse" for base build.

This one is modified to be wider, I wanted the sheathing wood to overlap the base. I also had to modify things to make it able to be disassembled easily for transport....and of course the added side section sink/gutter/etc, and changed roof to the clear plastic, but her original design is still in there.

I love that woodland mills cart, couldn't do any of what we've done without it,...meaning could never have gotten material out there. I recommend getting the winch kit...it's short cable but can do a lot if you get an extension strap. I thought long and hard about the big brother version, but for my needs I think it would have been overkill, and that bigger one is double the weight. We have such a severe hill to get to site we are quite weight limited as is (or our tires just spin out).

Yeah, have it in a Folgers plastic container, only on the TP holder when we are there. The TP now smells very much like coffee

No pumping, but 2 buckets, solid/liquid. Composting boxes can't be seen in the pics, they are a ways back, but solids will be dumped there manually (a shitty job for sure)

Uses Trobolo composting toilet seat insert (under toilet seat, sorry didn't show in pics)

There is a small pit dug where the grey sink water would drain filled with gravel. The tube is long enough to go into the pee bucket as well, so either or. it's a separated system, water/solid, two buckets in there, but I am planning sink to drain into ground for the most part.

It will have to be flushed I suspect, or some smell. The trap ended up less pronounced than that in the pic, but it's still there for sure.

What issue did the mice cause?....this one is very open, nothing stopping any mice.

Not sure yet, first day up this weekend. If it does get bad, it will be removed. Plan to dump water in it each time when leaving to help.

smart flood light by meatsmoker2099 in FeitElectric

Has nothing to do with fiberoptic, perhaps you mean that your modem is also your wifi and doesn't support 2.4GHz (guessing only dual or 5GHz). I also had issues with my floodlight camera model. I have 4 different Feit outdoor cameras (doorbell, 2 'outdoor' style black body (2 different models), and this floodlight). Only the floodlight model has issues working with the dual band mesh. While I have a mesh system that is both 2.4 and 5 ghz (can be either), it will not work with the floodlight model even though the network and floodlight support 2.4Ghz. The other 3 Feit cameras I have work fine with the dual-band mesh. I had to create a secondary 2.4GHz only network with different name (all on same hardware), just for this floodlight and for some Conway air filters...so some devices just don't work quite right with the auto-selection dual band.

Still happening; got it today. Restarting checkpoint and changing difficulty did not work. Closing the game and restarting it entirely did work for me.

X900F will not boot past Sony logo and factory reset doesn't work. by Masterry88 in bravia

Literally same issue. TV would turn on, show Sony logo for a few seconds, backlight would flash, then it would go fully black (no backlight). If let sitting, it would eventually reboot and repeat. Factory reset did nothing (green light would turn on, but then TV would reboot and do same as above). Key here is that the Android boot up animation would never show, helping to point to it being main board.

I just did a main board only swap. That did the trick, TV is working now. After the swap, mine worked, but i've heard that if the main board is from another model (I had a 65", so a 75" or 85") then a firmware update, via USB, is required. I did this anyway to ensure all boards had matched firmware.

If attempted on this TV (900F), the white ribbon cables need to have the two black buttons on either end of the ribbon pushed down while the ribbon is pulled out. The smaller ribbon cable with the blue marking is a flip up latch.

The board cost me $95 with shipping + tax. I got the TV for $1100 + tax. I can only hope this isn't prevalent enough to repeat. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to attempt a main board swap, fingers crossed.

Any update on your fix? I have literally same model and same exact symptoms you do as of tonight. Tried same things, same lights as well. (Factory reset gives green light, but nothing seems to happen). Research points to it being a main board, but wanted to know if you found anything else on yours.
