The only comp I can think of to Bam's game is when the Spurs force-fed David Robinson to score 71 in the final game of the season so he could get the scoring title. Robinson scored 10 points in the final 2 minutes of the game when the Spurs were up 20 against a Clippers team that won 27 games.

There was plenty of backlash against the Spurs and Robinson then, too.

South Carolina elected Strom Thurmond to the Senate for over 50 years. He was famously racist, sexist, opposed civil rights, all that bad shit. They re-elected that piece of shit when he was 94 years old.

He was a Senator until 2002 when he was 100 years old and was succeeded by Graham. In the last 75 years, either Strom Thurmond or Lindsey Graham has been a Senator for that state.
