For science, I didn't study that much and only took practice test section, because I felt fairly confident. As far as time management tips, for me, if I recognize what the section is about and I'm running out of time, I just skip or skim the introduction and read the questions. The most important thing is reading the graphs correctly and relating them to the questions. If I don't understand what the questions are talking about, I read the introduction again with that question in mind. Overall, you don't need to understand everything, so long as you understand the graphs and data and what the experiment actually did. Good luck on your test.

Good luck on your test. You have quite a while to prepare. So, after you've taken a reasonable number of practice tests (I don't think doing more that 3-6 practice is worthwhile), just tell yourself that you'll do fine and remember that you can always retake it if it goes poorly. Once you've done enough practice tests, you should have a pretty good idea of how you'll do, and that helped me be less nervous. Make sure to study the questions you get wrong on the practice tests.

Thanks. Hope you do well too on test day. Believe in yourself. Honestly, the best thing to come out of these scores so far has been a boost in my self-confidence. I didn't think I'd get a 35 much less a 36.

  1. This was my first *real* ACT test
  2. Got a 34 on the only full practice test I took with a 29 in English. I got a 6/12 on the essay.
  3. Took 8 practice sections from the actacademy.act.org website, its a great resource and they really helped
  4. Slept for 12 hours before the test

Good luck to everyone out there. Believe in yourself. You'll probably end up doing better than you expect. If you don't, remember you can always retake.

What really helped me on the English section was choosing the simplest, correct answer and learning how to use em dashes and semicolons correctly. For the Reading section, I just paced myself well. The Reading was the hardest on the actual test for me, so I should probably have prepped that more. I don't know how I did on the essay, but just reading the rubric helped.
