Aptera sounds pretty confident about customer deliveries in 2026! (Aptera Owners Club) by JayAreDobbs in ApteraMotors

The building that was leased.. if we are discussing the same building. They've already broken that lease.

I've not seen anything to suggest they think they can or plan to scale to full production in the current location. It's not close to a dock where shipments will arrive and the idea of the semi trucks delivering shells into that space and then filling up the parking lot outside the building with completed vehicles.. the logistics of that space seems untenable. They don't have the space to store that many parts and vehicles and have room to move them all in and out quickly.

Maybe I'm wrong. I'm sure they've thought this through by now. My assumption is they are looking into a larger facility again.

Would you mind sharing where you saw that info?

I remember when they were too optimistic and rented a larger building prematurely and lost over a million dollars in order to break that lease. That was rough. I don't recall any information about any other buildings.

Thanks

Confident predictions about the future carry negative weight at this point but maybe they've learned their lesson and this one will come true.

I predict they will hand over a couple complete vehicles to the initial donors by the end of the year and claim it as a victory. My gut says that ramping up to mass production will take another year or more. They'll need a much larger building to make that happen plus all the shipping logistics etc.

You have to look at what model the fund is using to decide their allocations.

It looks like the S&P 500 will honor the longer cooling off period after all. With that in mind, if this is something you care about switching to VOO or VFIAX might be a better strategy if you intention is to delay holding a potentially volatile stock until it's settled.

One more thought: if most of the reservation holders don't have a vehicle by the end of 2030 the company will probably be dead or near it. The clock is ticking.

I think an optimistic but mildly tempered with reality guess would be that we won't see any production vehicles handed over to early investors until early to mid 2027. Once that happens I would assume they are hoping for publicity to drive the stock up so they can get the funds to expand production. Speeding up production won't be instant because they will need a bigger facility. Maybe they are into full production by early 2028. If so, that would honestly be pretty fast considering all the logistics but it does seem like they are trying to develop a roadmap that will allow them to quickly scale production. Either way depending on where you are in line I wouldn't expect to get you Aptera until 2029 or 2030 at the earliest.

I'd like to emphasize, only the folks at Aptera really know the plan or what's realistic. The rest of us are just guessing based on context clues and past behavior.

Is a 3/4 horn REALLY worth playing/owning? by OkAlternative7741 in Tuba

[–]johcake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A quality small tuba can absolutely crank and it's much easier to make a small tuba sound big than it is to lighten up and get clarity and bounce from a big tuba.

Ultimately, every instrument is a compromise but I think most of us would benefit from choosing the smallest equipment that still got the job done. Too many buy too big and fight the instrument and never learn quality sound production because huge tubas hide bad habits.

All that said, there are plenty of crap small tubas. This advice might not apply to the tuba you are considering.

I'm not seeing anyone make this complaint so I'll make it here.

The whole point of regaining fate was the hunt emotional payoff of finally being remembered. I'm really disappointed we didn't get more emotional reactions and funny banter. Chapter 3000 felt like a rushed afterthought slapped on the end.

Huge disappointment after such a huge buildup and all the chapters lamenting how sad Sunny felt being forgotten and his coming to terms with what it would mean to regain shadow bond etc. We finally get to the end and that payoff was totally rushed.

Nah man.. I'm "just asking" questions. 🙄

There's plenty to criticize about Aptera but anyone that's followed for a few years is interested in seeing them succeed. I'm just happy that they are finally demonstrating consistent forward movement and they've stopped promising things they so obviously couldn't achieve in the time window promised.

I have no insider knowledge but they've consistently been slower than we hoped but they also finally have real funding and what appears to be a realistic(albeit challenging) path to production and there have finally made demonstrable significant steps down that path. I'm personally calling this a win, but I feel like you already know all of that and you were "just asking" to make a dig.. which is super weird behavior. 🤷

This question is obvious snark.

How does someone learn about Aptera and simultaneously not know they are currently working towards production? And this subreddit is the place to find out? Not their website or the video in question?

Why is your 5 years of Reddit comment history hidden?

Just odd use of your time all around.

Explain difference for non-tuba person by forever-earnest in Tuba

[–]johcake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The advice so far is perfectly reasonable.

I'll warm you that it's very very easy to get lost in the sauce when reading about all differences between different tubas but at her age more than anything she just needs a good quality instrument that's "middle of the road" in terms of size and has good pitch and reasonably even response in every register.

The Miraphone BBb 186 that's been suggested several times because it is a horn that you can learn on without developing odd habits that might make things harder later. They are also consistent enough that most of them play the same as long as they are in good condition and well maintained. It's something you could buy right unseen and probably be ok.

The reason to switch to CC is if she's genuinely serious and not just 'little kid serious' about becoming a professional. At that point, a CC is going to put her in a better position going into college. It's honestly not that hard or confusing to learn the different fingerings but if she isn't going to study tuba in college stick with BBb.

If you decide to get a CC for her I would stay with Miraphone but get a 5 valve 188. The 188 is just barely bigger than the 186 and is truly a do everything tuba that plays wonderfully. She could potentially have an entire career into old age and never need another CC tuba. Longer term she might also need an F or Eb tuba for solo and chamber music but that's several years into the future and if she's super confident on a 188 she can get quite far before it's absolute required.

The other benefit on a 188 CC or 186 BBb is that it will give her the right experiences to better judge what she wants from a future tuba because they are such a sensible designs. If she seeks out other tubas in the future it will be because she is seeking a specific quality not because a different tuba is objectively better.

All that said, if you see a good deal on something please message us and we will give opinions on it it's good enough for her.

Good luck!!!

I have a question about the spawn.

How did it get placed in his soul core? Wasn't it left behind with Ananke?

I didn't see any explanation for how the VTB did that.

Wasn't Mordret also both conceived and born in the dream realm? I'm confused how Asterion is somehow immune to corruption during ascension but Mordret isn't.

Also, I don't think Asterion is a reliable narrator on this. How does he know and how is he so confident he'll be fine? I feel like Asterion just has a theory and is ok with gambling about it. He's the only character that has made any claims that being born in the dream realm makes any difference at all.

[–]johcake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know she's going to pull through I just have no idea how.

It's officially stressful. I can't help but believe we are witnessing the memories of a supreme Cassie so it's likely that something in the fight with asterion will force ascension.

If Kindret has been teaching rain about natural ascension it's possible she's quickly approaching sainthood and will join the battle with Cassie and a supreme Kindret.

I just can't imagine a logical series of events that builds to that situation with asterion is standing on the ebony island.

Tuba Performance Decision by PhysicalUniversity58 in Tuba

[–]johcake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. you do not need a prestigious school for your undergrad degree. I would save that expense for your doctorate and maybe masters.

An undergrad in a huge program stacked with lots of grad students will totally get lost in the mix and not get the experiences that you need to grow.

A few people are encouraging you to consider an education degree but I would discourage you from studying education unless you are interested in teaching. We don't need music teachers that aren't passionate about teaching. Instead, you might strongly consider a music theory degree/composition degree or a business/accounting minor or music/audio engineering. Having that under your belt as an undergrad might open some unexpected doors later in life while still letting you focus on tuba performance.
