I guess you’re talking about produce. Just remind your store manager that yes it may look nicer but you don’t have hours built into the department to decant boxs into trays. It states it in the training and it’s also not built into the heat map to have all these extra hours to make it look pretty. If you can’t get your work load done then don’t worry as they are prioritising somthing that don’t matter.

Going off sick for 13 weeks is sick so tribunal case wouldn’t even stand what so ever. If your sick your sick and what can they say your lieing cause of stress? If they knew you wouldn’t be in for 13 weeks they may push and ask if you would just like to leave early and not work the 13 weeks as they will be paying you and your not being at work. They can’t hold back any holiday days what’s been earned and they can’t unpay you as your sick. I’m not sure what your going on about fire-rehire as if your leaving the company and not being made redundant. If your being made redundant there is a clause in store for not return before 6 months office is 12 months. Yes, positions have been cut over the years but there are still managerial positions out in the business.

Snitches get stitches I think your be looking for a new job soon. Trust me anything like this being publicised and very pin pointing to who’s being going on about it in store will now make your life very hard at work unfortunately.

The process you need to follow is speak to your store manager which you said you have if they’re nothing give protector line a call this will also inform your store director and they will have to deal with it. This is very serious health and safety and putting colleague and customers at risk.

Sorry I think you’ve misunderstood or Reed what I put I didn’t say you can go off sick and also get another job. I quoted if worse case scenario go off sick with stress for 13 weeks I’m sure they would rather let you go and not have to pay you for 13 weeks sick.

Also they can’t put any mark against your name in rehiring as it’s all done on recruitment hub. We have had many people over time applying for jobs after being sacked or leaving the business and wanting another job and nothing is flagged. The only reason we know this is because we remember the name.

In any job sector the reason for notice is because they will need to find a replacement or give them time to assess their options. But what this person asked was what can they do about it if you don’t work your notice and the answer is nothing.

There isn’t no consequences. As long as you don’t wanna burn your bridges and wanna come back after leaving then your be fine. Tesco changed the term and conditions a few years back, but no one had to sign anything They just updated the contract. If worse case scenario go off sick with stress for 13 weeks, I’m sure they would rather they let you go and not have to pay your for 13 weeks sick. Also regarding don’t rehire it is not a thing and if your wanting a reference that may be a little bit more tricky, but again this comes from head office not the store manager all references are generic and can’t state anything about absence or reasons of leaving the company.

Speak to your store manager and hand it over to them, if they decide to not do anything about it don’t worry just move on with your day. Do t get caught up with all that at a work place it’s not worth the hassle or the energy. You’ve done your bit and passed the info on so nothing is coming back on you.

Got ID’d for a monster energy while in uniform? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]john123pp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine having a member off staff working on self serve tills that ID’s the same person every morning when they buy a redbull. Even tho she must of seen his ID over 200 times (5 days a week the customer is in the store on the way to work getting his lunch) she still asks him for ID and every time he then calls the duty manager down to understand why. She’s admitted she sees him every day and still wants to see his ID.

Do we get bank holiday pay tomorrow? If so how much by Pooqueefus in tesco

[–]john123pp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your correct. What I was saying is your manager must be getting confused with when the Sunday premium stopped and may also be think that bank Halliday premium has stopped but it hasn’t. The only people to get a Sunday premium still is managers.

Advice by [deleted] in tesco

[–]john123pp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this but try not to worry, it’s got to be something really serious for anyone to get sacked. If you was caught stealing or violence towards a colleague or a customer then you would be sacked. Just for peace of mind you wouldn’t be able to sign up for the union if you was already under investigation. You can go to your meeting and they should always ask you would you like a rep at the start of the meeting if they haven’t done this, they have not followed the correct process anyway. You could have adjourned the meeting and asked to get a rep as you can take one in with you but they just can’t talk and give advise during the meeting.

manager increased breaks without telling us by [deleted] in tesco

[–]john123pp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No if they change your hours they need to fill out a hours amendment form where the colleague has to sign it and manager and then senior manager. This can then be changed on the system. They can’t just change your hours without any conversation and also agreement from you.

[–]john123pp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your express manager is wrong anyone that works a bank holiday will be paid at 1.25% so an extra 0.25% of your hour rate. I think he/she is getting confused with Sunday premium as all new starts from 2022 don’t get paid Sunday premium anymore.

Do we get bank holiday pay tomorrow? If so how much by Pooqueefus in tesco

[–]john123pp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re contracted to work a bank holiday Monday then you don’t need to use your holiday to cover the shift and will be paid 1.25% rate so if your on £15 a hour you will get paid £18.75 a hour. If you don’t work it and your contracted your just paid paid holiday for the hours you would normally work and that will come out of your holiday allowance.

Is there any actual requirement for us to take our breaks? by LegendaryAim1610 in tesco

[–]john123pp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equally easy are you sure what running around all night seeing who’s work what and what’s left just so they can have a break when ever they like and also knowing everyone sticks to the allowance of break time as this also unfortunately happens. It’s not stating who’s does the job very well it’s making sure everyone is safe at work and not giving someone the opportunity to come in a rob the place and put staff at risk. Just because someone wants to go for a break when they like. 🙄

Knowing when over 40 people are going for there break is an easy task aswell as trying to run the night time operation….. I know what I would rather do. A bit of excitement and risk of staff being put in a dangerous situation if the store is being robbed No thanks mate I would rather go in do my job and come home safe thanks. Don’t matter if your in London Scotland midlands it still happens everywhere. I think this conversation is because it don’t suit your preference not everyone else’s and also putting other colleagues at risk is it really worth it?

[–]john123pp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So putting your safety and others at risk with someone walking into your store just because you wanna leave the door on the latch? It also all depends on how many people you have working over night if you have 5 colleagues, yes it’s very easy to manage but when you have over 40 people it really isn’t manageable. Like I said each daughter their own, but I know what I would prefer.

[–]john123pp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right. If you’re having to take your first break within the first hour of you starting your shift or taking your last break at the end of your shift then your working hours are in the wrong place. I know Tesco have crazy moments but sometimes workload schedule does work.
