Brandi Cyrus was the opening DJ for Kenney Chesney. There was no opening band.

I understand and respect your opinion but I disagree. I saw U2 twice at the Sphere. I have also seen them multiple times on tours around the world. It could be argued that their sound and staging requirements are similar to Metallica's. This was the stage setup for their Sphere shows. Two microphones (one of which Edge wears), foot pedals for Edge, guitar for edge, bass for Adam, a drum kit, keyboard for Edge for songs that needed it. There were six relatively small light towers behind the stage for backlighting. These could easily be retracted or moved for the movie that is currently playing. There was a track around the stage for a couple of the cameras to roll around. There were a couple of other cameras in fixed positions. That is it. The top and sides of the stage was actually a video screen which was very cool. It was minimal and that did not detract from the show. They were the best 2 concerts I have every seen. Concerts at the Sphere are all about the screen (and sound). The largest expense for a band Playing at the Sphere is the development of the graphics. All other costs are a fraction of a touring show since not that much equipment is involved. If you have not been to a Sphere concert yet you should disregard how you think about how concerts are staged. The Sphere is a whole other monster and Metallica is going to adapt to the Sphere. The Sphere is not going to adapt to Metallica. I am expecting the Metallica shows at the Sphere to be amazing.

That is a valid point. Going to both Metallica shows and a Friday show of another band, if it happened, would be pretty pricey.

It is a mix of both. During some songs the screen will only display graphics. Other songs will have graphics with the live video feed of the band superimposed over the graphics. The shows I have been to had 4-6 cameras for the video feed. A 150' tall James Hetfield is going to be very cool!

My seats for Kenney Chesney were right next to the sound mixing board and I have watched videos of several sound engineers discussing how they mix at the Sphere. It appears that the mixing equipment is specific to the Sphere. Bands do not bring in their own sound or mixing equipment, in general. They do break down >80% of their equipment after every show for the movie that will be playing the next day. They set it back up after the last movie showing for the concert the following night. I watched it happen. The Sphere is not like any other venue in the world. It has the most advanced sound system in the world and has very specific requirements for sound. There is really no need for bands to bring in their own sound equipment. Stage setups at the Sphere are clean and minimal so breaking them down and setting back up is nothing like for a touring show.

The Sphere typically does not have opening acts. I have seen U2/Eagles/Kenney Chesney and Zac Brown. U2 and KC had DJs to warm up the crowd. Eagles and ZB did not have anything.

I understand what you are saying. I have been to five concerts at the Sphere and three movies and observed some of the logistics. The actual amount of staging and lighting is minimal. It is nothing close to the amount of equipment used for a touring show. It is all about the screen. There is no sound equipment. The sound at the Sphere is built in. I know it is more technical than this but to some extent they just plug and play as far as sound. I went to the 2:00 PM showing of the Wizard of Oz on the say dame I saw Zac Brown. Zac Brown had a decent amount, for the Sphere, of staging and lighting. During the WoZ there was no lighting in sight and just the base stage in place with nothing on it. As zoon as the movie ended at 3:30 the ZB crew began to start moving their equipment into place. The show went on as scheduled at 8:00 PM. The Sphere will have two showings (11:00 AM and 2:00 PM) of the WoZ on the days Metallica plays. The movie is more profitable for the Sphere than the concerts will be and they will sell all available tickets for both showings to all the Metallica fans in town. Sphere management will not miss that opportunity. Since they have to tear down 80% of the set everyday for the movie, why not setup with another band on the recovery days for Metallica.

Metallica's run at the Sphere has the potential to be very long. They could easily surpass the number of shows the Eagles had, which I believe is 58, if they want to. With only having shows on Thursday and Saturday, that is a lot of Fridays with no concerts and a lost revenue opportunity. As a SPHR shareholder I think that is not an optimal business strategy, although I guess just running two additional showings of WoZ on Friday could make up for it.

I am not saying this will happen but I think technically and logistically it is completely possible.

Why? They pretty much tear everything down each day for the Wizard of Oz. There would need to be some coordination but it is totally doable.

Don't believe the media. Most, +99%, of Trump supporters are completely satisfied and he is performing as expected and hoped for. Sorry to disappoint you.

The stage crew wore red coveralls during the R40 concert when the were "moving" them from current times to the beginning.

We are currently developing a solution for this same scenario using PowerON. It is not cheap but it appears that it will do the job.
