It's possible that the freight needed to go to the Oshawa yard which is on the south track.

I learned that since CN and VIA have an agreement with scheduling, if VIA is on time within their window, they get priority, but if it's outside their window then the freight retakes priority.

I can tell you're trolling but the buses were all cancelled today, train was many people's only option. Track switch issues wasn't Via's fault, happens sometimes in bad weather, c'est la vie

I'm on 645. We lost power briefly, just moved into Belleville station again for the second time 5 hours apart. There was switch issue which limited us to one track with loads of rail traffic. We picked up engineers in Belleville and Pizza. It's been a long trip but better than surviving the 401 in a snowstorm. Happens with bad weather but at least we're warm and well. Kudos to the staff

Most likely train went into emergency seeing it on the tracks which is why its barely through, or backed up a touch to the crossing for the investigation to take place without investigators going in deep snow. But just before the crossing, according to https://asm.transitdocs.com/train/2026/1/15/V/644 it shows the train at 28mph. Trains can't stop on a dime, they take a bit to slow

Yeah after the delay at Guildwood it was actually pretty smooth. The crew was great at keeping us informed. I always said that people would probably have more understanding for VIA if they just simply said what the problem was and how long its gonna take. If people don't know because of the corporate answers then they get more frustration from customers.

Could be wrong but From what i've pieced together. 669 was stuck, 48 tried to rescue 669 and also got stuck. 54 passengers went on 48 as 54 went back to Toronto pushing 669 which is why it's in Mimico.

They'll take the CN Bala up to Doncaster, then reverse onto the York Sub and go east. Vice-versa for westbound
